3 Favorite Video Game Villains
I am new here and I do apologize in case this has already been discussed in this Forum. In case it hasn't been discussed I was wondering what your 3 favorite villains for a video game are and why. Mine are
Sephiroth: These days it seems that if you like this guy you are a Final Fantasy VII fanboy or something rediculous. I remeber being 7 years old when the game came out. My friends and I felt the impact of the game even though we were into the N64 and into platforming games. One big reason why I got into the game around a year later and still love it to this day (currently working on a really good save file) is because of the main villain, Sephiroth. He is very mysterious, well designed with the amazing Masamune Katana. Plus he has my favorite game music as a theme.
Bowzer: The first video game villain I ever knew and the one I have the most memories with. Bowzer has been around since the mid 80's and he seems to never get old with each new appearance. Can be funny (most Mario RPG's) Or scary (Super Mario Bros 3)
Ganon(Ganondorf): As a kid my favorite game was The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past. I couldn't afford to buy hardly any games, only way I would have some is by a cheap trading store so I would often go to my friends house (Donovan). We thought we beat the game when we got the Master Sword but turns out evil Ganon was ruling Hyrule so we had to go through temples and over turn him. As a 4 year old kid this boss (last part of the game) was extremely difficult and my main goal as I was 5 years old was to beat Ganon. It took me so long that the name Ganon is still stuck in my head. Almost the same feeling when he was Ganondorf in Ocarina of Time. Not as hard but he was very cool.
I know those are mostly talked about as greatest villians but they all come from my childhood and the particular 3 villains I'll never forget.

These things:

Because a villains job is to make you hate him/her, and I REALLY freaking hate those things.

And these:

Those are my top three, with Trap Door being an Honorable Mention.

Re: 3 Favorite Video Game Villains
1. Dr. Wily
Mega Man

Nobody better embodies the phrase, "If at first you don't succeed, try, try again." If the definition of insanity is trying the same thing over and over again while expecting a different result then Wily is certifiably pants-on-head crazy.
Still, anybody who can weaponize googly-eyed industrial and consumer products well enough to actually threaten to take over the world is somebody to be feared. And yet he's still goofy and lovable and we never see him being outright evil, even performing a selfless act in the ending of Mega Man 10.
In the end it's Dr. Light's creation of X that ends up screwing up the whole world. Perhaps Wily is actually the good guy, trying to conquer the world to save it. Nah, he's just nuts.
2. Prince Thrakath
Wing Commander

The crown prince of the Kilrathi empire, hell bent on wiping out the human race and taking the throne from his aging grandfather. Though he tries to play the part he hardly has the same sense of honor and loyalty that most Kilrathi value. He's not above using stealth or subterfuge to accomplish his goals.
However dirty tricks can go too far as his fighters destroy two of the carriers you called home resulting in the deaths of many of your comrades. He disembowels your girlfriend with his bare claws and eventually reveals that one of your best friends was a traitor working for him all along.
He's no coward though and can back up his big words. When push comes to shove he takes off in his heavily customized Blood Fang space fighter and challenges you directly. Dog-fighting with this ace pilot feline always makes for a memorable challenge and finally putting the sucker down for good is oh-so-satisfying.
3. Ridley
Metroid

Starting off as just one of the bosses you had to knock off in the original Metroid, the dragon-like Space Pirate commander Ridley has become an iconic part of the game's lore. He was responsible for the death of Samus Aran's parents and the destruction of her colony (unfortunately for him the events that put into motion Samus becoming the badass bounty hunter she is).
Ever since he returned from the grave the first time to swipe the baby metroid from us at the start of Super Metroid he's been the most anticipated fight in any Metroid game. Even though fighting him these days lacks the challenge it used to have I still find myself getting pumped up to take him down.
His return as Meta-Ridley in Metroid Prime, soaring past the mountains of Tallon IV was fantastic and the fight was no disappointment either. Sure there may have been a final boss afterwards but for my money, the climax of the game was right here.
As long as there are new Metroid games, this bastard will find a way to cheat death and menace us again.
