Keep in mind that these are not the "first 10 Ouya games". These are ten Twitter contest winners for a free dev kit.

Linked in the article is the list of titles slated for it. Not a lot of huge standouts there either, but it does at least mention some of the more known titles/developers like Square-Enix bringing FFIII, Pier Solar HD coming to it, Hawken devs at least expressing interest in porting a version to it, and so on.

Not sure how I feel about it yet. Worst case scenario I sell my Kickstarter Bronze edition on eBay.

Hawken would be really neat.

Airmech is coming at least. So I'll have a modern version of Herzog Zwei to play.

Heh, me either, though I see it more as two products. The hardware itself, which has hackable potential for a number of applications, and the Ouya service/storefront.

I'd like to see them carve out their own little niche and succeed, but, if the thing bombs, the hardware isn't useless. Plus, look at how much a Pippin goes for these days. Commercial failure doesn't make a device like this completely uninteresting.

Well, finally got around to registering my username. I don't see myself doing much with this until MAME is up and I can use it to emulate arcade games. For $99, HDMI and a decent cpu (I don't game on the PC), I'll probably find some value. Not super excited though.

I was briefly arguing with someone on some Ouya article, and he stopped responding. I'm posting it here because I can't figure out if he just couldn't handle being wrong, or if he was trying to make some point that I couldn't wrap my head around. He got very defensive and called me a troll after I made a fairly untrollish thought out response to his posts:

Admit it folks, the only real reason you and me are buying it is solely for old console emulators... Stop kidding yourself that any other game might be interesting on such weak hardware.
Me
So you're buying it to play technically inferior old games that will easily run on the Ouya's hardware, then complain that that same hardware is not powerful enough to play anything worthwhile? How does that make sense?
him

("So you're buying it to play *technically* inferior old games that will easily run on the Ouya's hardware")

Well gee, I guess I needed to not write in such diminutive manner to not have someone respond to me with such nonsense...

Go play some classics kiddo, go look at the gems that were produced from the 8-bit to 128-bit era and compare them to current junk out today...

("then complain that that same hardware is not powerful enough to play anything worthwhile?")

Please divulge me any decent games in this era that would be perfect on the already outdated Tegra 3 SoC for this console? All the games that would be on this console are mostly going to consist of modified Android ports! Please bare in mind that I have 2 android phones and 2 family owned tablets which I use regularly.

The only indie based games that really do shine are the ones on Steam!
So don't hold your breath that Steam doesn't try to kill the competition, but at a higher cost....
Me
I don't understand what you're saying. On one hand you're saying that the classic games were better than modern games (As a collector who owns pretty much every major classic console, I agree) despite their technical inferiority. But then you go on to say that the hardware of the Ouya will not be powerful enough to play any good new games? Why do NEW games have to be technically superior to the classics to be good? Haven't we established, based on the fact that you prefer 8 and 16 bit games, that horsepower isn't relevant? The following games would all be absolutely perfect for the OUYA and would run flawlessly:Oniken, Noitu Love, Manos: The Hands of Fate, Freedom Planet, Japanese Werewolf, Clash Force, Super Mega Worm, Star Marine, League of Evil, Mutant Mudds, etc. etc.

This thing is a retro dream, a console that allows developers to easily develop games to a targeted audience and that don't have to be compared to the Halos and the Zeldas of the other big 3.
him
Sigh... Can I tell you something..? I'm not trying to be a jerk or anything but I hate debating with people... It's a waste of words that hog up other peoples opinions and comments, how does this sound! You're 100% right!!! My comment was completely stupid and uncalled for! Does that make you feel better? :) *Hands you a cookie!*
me
Sweet. I won the internet and got a cookie.
him

Actually that cookie I gave you had a trace amount of cyanide in it...

Sorry son, may your last minutes of trolling serve you well.
Did I totally miss some valid point he was trying to make?

Nope. You handed him his ass on a platter. He's the troll, and got smacked up, so did what any other troll would do: continue trolling.

Kinda what I figured, but I got in a plug for my game so it's a win either way.

What do you guys think of this? A game system dongle that plugs into your HDMI port.
Not a dev kit, but will run Android games. Comes with a wireless controller.
