DVD The Good The Bad The Weird - $5.00 Bookoff
THE KOREAN SEAMLESS UNCUT EDITION! Even the BluRay release in all regions including Korea has the extra scenes ommited. This anamorphic DVD is region free, English subtitled and includes the final scene where the weird reveals the steel plate as in A Fistful of Dollars. A while back I bought Sukiyai Western thinking it was this movie. GBW is definitely a keeper worth multiple viewings, I need to pick up the US version to get the other footage and extra features; the movie is that good.

It is a quite common thing that movies from Asia are altered before they are released internationally, quite often some of the storyline is missing afterwards. The International Version of The Good, The Bad, The Weird is about 5 minutes shorter than the original, but there are also some new scenes in it. It is especially striking that the Korean Version tells more about the resistance and, consecutively, the historical background, the other remarkable thing is the alternative ending. The International Version does not make it clear who won the showdown and how the story continues, the Korean Version, however, adds two scenes in which the protagonists appear and a salute to A Fistful of Dollars can be be found.

PS2 Battlestar Galactica - $5.00 Bookoff
Based on the cheesy older TV show, but a good space arcade sim. The Cylon voices are a little corny but add flavor to the game. Those voices remind me of the robot voices in Berzerk.

PS2 Dr Muto - $5.00 Bookoff
Thanks to Metal Jesus Video Review, I have been keeping an eye out for this. Pretty good platformer that sometimes switches to 2D. The crappy cover have always kept me away glad to finally buy it.

PS2 Gun - $5.00 Bookoff
3rd person gunslinger, chose this over Red Dead Revolver due to the more open exploration.

PS2 Army Men Green Rogue - $2.00 Thrift Store
A Twinstick game ruined by the Rail Shooter push the 3rd person view character thru the level style. You have got to be kidding, I can't believe 3DO would not make this free roaming as the older Army Men games. :x

PS2 Armoured Core 2 - $2.00 Thrift Store
Strange that the movement controls are all digital. This allows playing the mech with an Arcade stick, perfect for my Modded Twinshock. Move, sidestep and look around with two Arcade sticks!

PS2 Ninja Assault - $2.00 Thrift Store
Guncon 2 game shooting at Ninjas! Weird and actually kind of fun.

Tak Power Of Ju Ju - $2.00 Thrift Store
Not quite as popular as the Jak or Ratchet, but another great 3d platformer.

That is not tears in the bottom row of games, but clear tape reflecting the light wrapped around the cases. Usually a pain to remove, surprised how easily they came off. The Thrift Store tape policy is a double edged sword with nasty glue cleanup, but it does keep the games intact and free of scratches. :D

I haven't bought an NES game in quite some time, but I found Blaster Master for $5 and Solomon's Key for $6. They just called to me and said "You played us so much as a kid, we should be in your collection now."

Coleco Pacman VFD Tabletop - $20.00

Image

This was at the Swap Meet that has the sellers and buyers come in at the same time. The policy prevents any permanent booth sellers from buying up the deals before the gates open. It creates a free for all though, any car and truck that stops to unload is surrounded by people grabbing the bargains. Seriously, a feeding frenzy opening boxes before they are even unloaded, I swear I would lose my hand if I got too close.

The Coleco Table Top was already on the ground, my luck that everyone was too busy looking inside the trailer. I recognized it immediately and quickly grabbed it when the seller looked at me.

Seller: "Twenty Five Dollars."
CRTGAMER: "Does it work? Wait a minute the battery door is missing"
Seller: "Oh no, hang on the door is here somewhere"
CRTGAMER: "I'll go fifteen if it works."
Seller: "I found the batteries. See? it works."
CRTGAMER: "I really would like the battery cover, its got to be where you found the batteries."
Seller spends a couple of minutes digging thru cardboard boxes, then finds it.
CRTGAMER: "How about twenty bucks? The joystick does not work to well."
Seller: "My kid won't play it anymore, okay twenty bucks"

That kid will be pissed years from now, imagine all the cool stuff you could have kept from your childhood. Even more so losing an already 30 year old retro collectable like this. Glad I was persistent in getting the battery door, but wondered how much effort to repair the stick. The Coleco Table Top is from the 80s, so replacement parts would be difficult to find. I hoped for an easy fix, if not I could always improvise something on the PCB, an add on contact of sorts.

Rarely do the Coleco VFD units appear on EBay and usually very expensive.

Missing some stickers, but the VFD screen looks beautiful with all rows lit up! :D

I took the Coleco Pacman home, tore it apart, cleaned it up and repaired the faulty stick. I added the information to the Portable Game Guide.

nice find, i'm always impressed with those old tabletop games and how well they hold up after all these years. i have one but not a coleco, some kind of galaga clone (it's called star ship or something like that, haven't looked at it in a while). no battery cover on mine though; it's hard to keep those huge C cells in place without tape. :(
