Oh, bite me!: I got paid yesterday and finished wrapping presents and putting them under the tree. I am pleased.

Wrote out my final math exam.
Closed Word Document when finished and forgot to save.
No biggy right? Word auto-saves...
Except when you open instead of saving the word doc in Internet Explorer.
So now I get to do it all over again.

If you have a program that can search your computer's RAM (HxD works for Windows), sometimes you can recover a large chunk of text if you search for a memorable snippet of the file immediately after closing word. That won't help you now, but it might come in handy later.

Don't add to my problems by pretending my past views are still held in the present. I do not have any patience for that. Feel free to ask me what I think now.

Smile: Spent time with the girl.
Frown: Getting angrier and angrier at Nintendo. My Wii-U arrived at their repair depot in Washington and they send me an e-mail saying: Your warranty doesn't cover this damage. The repair will cost you $225.
This confused me as I literally had the machine in my possession for two hours. One of those hours was the update. The next hour was me on the phone with customer support, troubleshooting. Somehow in the course of those two hours, Nintendo was certain that I had cracked the housing and damaged a chip inside the machine.
WTF!?
So I spend an hour on the phone with Nintendo explaining how no, I am NOT going to give you guys $225 for something that came out of the box broken, thank you. This is AFTER they screwed up on the shipping and gave me slow shipping instead of the fast shipping that I had requested. I escalate the conversation a couple times until I am talking to a person with the word supervisor in their title who sounds like he is actually in the States (Nintendo's Indian call center is terrible - I honestly cannot understand them and they never have any answers) and the best I was able to do was get the repair fee dropped to $90. After tax, I'm still out $100 over the retail price. And now there is no way in hell I'll get the machine back before Christmas.
I am trying not to rage because it's just video games but this is getting fucking stupid.

Maybe now Nintendo will acknowledge Metroid has a fanbase?

^dude. Seriously? What? You're paying $90 extra to sit on your hands and wait for a machine that works like it should have? This is insane.
Re: What Made you Smile/What Ticked you off Today?
Yeah. I'm aware of that. I just talked to them asking for an update and was way more rude to the operator than I should have been but I am having a tough time caring. What the fuck happened to Nintendo's customer service? They used to be perfect every time. Now they are pulling warranty shennanigans and acting like they can take my money as a customer for granted. Given that they just launched a new console and have a ways to go to recoup the outlay in cash they put up for R&D and marketing, you'd think they'd bust their asses to keep customers happy.

I'm not being a dick or anything -- Im' just curious cuz maybe I missed some of the story. Was returning it to the store you bought it from 2 hrs later as 'defective' not an option?Flake wrote:Yeah.
