I thought they were awful, although it may have been because I watched it on Youtube and WWE may have manipulated the crowd noises, but they barely cheered other than when Flair was getting in the ring. The Flair/Punk skit was brilliantly done although Flair can barely speak these days. Return of Boogeyman though? I'm not really sure on that one. And can someone enlighten me on the NXT guy who came out at the end of Raw? He looked like a scientists head had been stuck on a bodybuilders frame. His face just didn't intimidate me.
It was the first Raw I've watched in about 6/7 months, and I found it pretty disappointing.
I was there live and after watching the RAW recaps on Smackdown last night (I have RAW DVR'd still) they definitely mixed the sound. Cena was booed out of the building and it was pretty faint then.

I thought the crowd wasn't as strong as it could have been, but thats just because the age demo is changing. I was sitting in the lower level and there were a ton of families with small children (all of which were scared shitless of fireworks so you just saw kids with their fingers in their ears the whole time). Despersed between them were your typically smarky crowd.
Were you guys watching the same show as me? The crowd was vocal as hell! They cheered the hell out of Ric Flair. The cheered the hell out Tommy Dreamer. E-C-Dub chants throughout the night. Chants of "Goldberg" when Ryback was in the ring. They chanted "BORING!" at Big Show. Cheered the hell out of HHH. And best of all, they booed Cena off the stage, lol!

This is how a wrestling crowd should be, IMO. It's fun. And it tells the WWE what the people want loud and clear. If most wrestling crowds reacted this way, WWE might stop shoving their agenda down out throats without any consideration for what we want.

This helps a little.

I've never been to a WWE event and not sure what the proper etiquette is, so feel free to give me a hand.

The only chant I know is "Whaaat?". Any other staple chants I should know? How about seat shuffling? Is it standard practice to rush near the aisle when your favorite wrestler makes her/his entrance?

Of course my plan is to use common sense, but events that have a following usually have their own rules as well.

A Cena/Rock rematch doesn't need the title involved. Their egos are reason enough for another match. You simply make it a high stakes affair, like maybe the loser never shows his face in the WWE again. I think WWE has made enough money off the Rock as it is, so they can have Cena win. Knowing Vince, he'd just assume that no one remembers the stipulation any way and have Rock back in a year.

Yeah, but you need a reason for the Rock to give Cena a rematch. If not because he's the number one contender, possibly Cena somehow costs the Rock the title at the Rumble?

I'm agreeing with you - I do think they mixed some of the sound after the show for the online version. I agree, makes the events fun, I enjoyed the heck out of RAW - I wish they would bring a PPV back to philly. I'm pretty sure the last one was The Bash 2009.

I'm glad you guys brought this up. I watched Raw on a 40 inch flatscreen TV and heard people boo the hell out of Cena. The next day, I was showing someone the show on youtube and you couldn't hear the crowd at all. Weird. It was a skysports broadcast. Was this some kind of edited version of Raw, or was it just a youtube video with poor audio. It made that part seem so weird because without the crowd noise you don't know why Cena was making those funny faces in reaction to the crowd. I almost felt bad for the guy. It's like the crowd told him to go fuck himself

I have to throw my two cents in and say that this week's Raw was fantastic. It seems like the only time they put on a great show anymore is when it's a special event like an anniversary show or the Slammy awards.

I love that they paired up AJ and Dolph and I like having the NXT guy with them. They are their own little faction now, and we have The Shield running around too.

I know the Slammy awards don't mean shit, but it's ridiculous that Cena won it. Punk had a better year. He was champ for the whole time! Daniel Bryan had great matches and really picked up in popularity. He's the break out star of last year. Then you have Mr. Money in the Bank Ziggler who is going to be a huge star in WWE's future. Plus, he busts his ass in the ring with crazy bumps and feats of athleticism. All three of those guys deserve it more. Cena was just his typical self last year and didn't do anything special at all

Maybe in the beginning but Aces & Eights of late? They've been jobbing consistently and the story has been pretty neutered. I think they blew that by not following up on the tepid Devon reveal with something better (whomever Doc is or whomever is the real leader is). All they've done since is take out some midcarders and get pinned by Angle. Eventually Wes Brisco and Bischoff will turn (Brisco is definitely in A&E - he's been identifiable with the mask on) on him so maybe it'll pick up.
Yeah, just about every wrestling podcast I listen to hates Aces & Eights. Their callers hate it too. I think TNA had a great idea with Aces & Eights but have handled it poorly. It's a shame because they do other things quite well

I haven't kept up with TNA in the past two or three weeks, but I saw a youtube video of Velvet Sky coming back. That puts a smile on my face :D

^ Then I must be in the minority. Because I'm loving the chaos that Aces & Eights brings to TNA's table.

Oh, and yeah, I'm quite happy with Velvet Sky's return as well, now if they could just bring back Winter.

That's the thing, the lack of atmosphere that the Youtube version had contributed to my low opinion of the show overall, as that is what carries the show in part, as the wrestlers react to the crowd noises. I know when Triple H was talking about Undertaker there was a good amount of noise but the way it was mixed has obviously ruined the true atmosphere that was there in the building. WWE are known for editing Sky Sports shows, as they are shown on a short delay in the UK (I remember seeing Raw live in London and it was when R-Truth smoked a cigarette and turned heel, they removed the whole cigarette segment which affected the show's plot). I can't afford to have Sky Sports as it is £50 a month, mostly because of the soccer coverage which they pretty much monopolise. Therefore online repeats are all I can opt for. TNA however, is free and why there is such a strong following here for it. They are actually starting a new boot camp reality show next week with 4 UK wrestlers, the winner receiving a TNA contract which is interesting.

I was listening to Punk on the Nerdist podcast today. Boy he really comes across as a guy that most people on this forum could hang with. His interests mirror my own. He's into sci fi, comic books, stand up comedy, and he seems like a good gamer.

I'd love to meet him or AJ Lee someday and get their autographs. They seem like good people. AJ and Kofi Kingston could definitely talk gaming with many of us here.
