Right, because I showed a little bity rebel flag on my car, that means I'm a racist, and should be put into the system as a white supremist.
Which is funny, considering this student was half black.
I'm also tired of all this, "its racist" bullshit. If that's a racist symbol because some racist use it, then so is the British flag, American flag, many African flags, the Mexican flag, Thor Hammers, shamrocks, Roman symbols, Greek Symbols, Anarchy signs, etc.... I want those banned too.
Did you not see the "deserved or not" part regarding racial connotations? We've had this argument already, and I was one of the ones arguing that people who wave that flag aren't necessarily racist.
That doesn't change the fact that it does have a lot of strong racial connotations and is a highly controversial symbol. If it wasn't, we wouldn't be having this argument right now and we wouldn't have had it in the past. I don't blame a school one bit for not wanting to associate themselves with something like that.
I doubt the school would actually mark you as a 'white supremacist' in their system for having a tiny confederate flag sticker on your car or something. At most, they'd probably just ask you to remove it.

Not wanting to associate themselves? Honestly, they should change their mascot then, seeing as that school is the "Rebels".
The student was marked as a white supremacist on his record when he later got a parking ticket due to the school incident. For whatever reason the school reported the student to the police.
What about the Hammer and Sickle, or the Cross, or the Star and Crescent? If a school bans symbols because they might have an offensive interpretation, where's it stop?
I know many people think it's silly to fly the confederate flag, and I would be inclined to agree, but at the same time I don't feel it deserves banning.

just
geez
That's the other issue with trying to squash something like a flag. It just intensifies the feelings of those who like it.
