Re: Neo-Geo Emulation on the DS
Wow, I'm going to have to try that out. NeoGeo is one of my favorite systems, and the idea of having that big monster of a system in a portable package is awesome
Re: Neo-Geo Emulation on the DS
Looks great!
Now I have a difficult choice to make for my portable NeoGeo needs. Have a nice big screen on the PSP but a shocking D-pad or have a tiny screen on the DS but nice buttons to use...
Also is there an open source/mac utility that can convert the roms for neods? I don't really want to have to boot up a windows computer every time I need to add more roms...

Re: Neo-Geo Emulation on the DS
Good question -- I didn't think about that... might have to do some research.
I'm guessing at this point, you might be better with the PSP one -- I assume since it's more mature, the compatibility is better.

Re: Neo-Geo Emulation on the DS
It's not your fault Racket. It's the short sightedness of devs. I mean i'm not complaining. I couldn't do anything like that myself so I'm grateful for any homebrew release. I just wish devs would at least release a command line utility for other operating systems. I don't even want a gui. I'd rather use the CLI anyway, it's faster.

Re: Neo-Geo Emulation on the DS
I wouldn't call it shortsightedness. If the developer, who is working on these homebrew apps of his own free will and with no financial motive, decides to only release a win32 utility to go with his app, which incidentally is what most potential users would want anyway, then he's free to do so. NullDC's author is working on a PSP port of his emulator, which is clearly futile and this effort might make the main project better than it actually is, but can we criticise him since he has no obligation towards its benefiters? Like you however I do find certain attitudes irritating, but we're not obliged to complain, much..
Anyway here's the forum dedicated to the emulator -> http://boards.pocketheaven.com/viewforum.php?f=43

Re: Neo-Geo Emulation on the DS
Yeah I know but if he made the app open source then at least it could be ported...
I'm not going to reverse engineer what is basically a command line utility.

Re: Neo-Geo Emulation on the DS
Don't you use Wine? I hear people are running many games (and even emulators) using that.

Re: Neo-Geo Emulation on the DS
I could if Wine was available for OS X. I'm not paying for the crossover mac. Which is just Wine but ported to OS X...
I don't want to put parallels on my mac because I hate it and it's not very good with USB drives. It would be nice if devs insist on having these stupid little utilities to get things to work, then they have them open source so they can be ported.

Re: Neo-Geo Emulation on the DS
Is anybody else having problems with the emu? The converter wouldn't convert anything but the bios for me so I used an older version which converted everything but when I ran the emu no roms would boot. I tried a different bios and I get the green screen and then a Z80 error. I have a feeling my problem is the bios file. Does anyone have a confirmed working converted bios file they could rapidshare for me?
