i don't display controllers or accessory unless boxed. mainly due to the pure size and amount i have, its almost impossable to display 300+ controllers. I have most stashed under the stairs in a crawl space other ones are in bins with the system wrote on the front then places on a book shelf. works great for me ill post pictures later tonight :P

I store mine in milk crates.

I have one for Nintendo controllers, one for Sega controllers, a third for Playstation controllers + my 1 XBOX controller, and a fourth milk crate for console cords.

I use a plastic box for the extras, cause I don't have that many extra controllers. I have at least one per console, and my main ones are stored near their respective consoles.
Consoles: N64, Wii, Dreamcast, PS2, SNES, Saturn, Genesis, PS3, NES, Wii U, 2600, PS4
Handhelds: Game Boy Advance, 3DS, PSP, New 3DS
