Agree. It finally got the beta release on the 5200, but as a homebrew. The 2600 is different levels from the 5200 and arcade.flojocabron wrote:I do believe that Jr. Pacman falls under this.
I questioned earlier of the criteria of some games not making the OP list simply because they are on an Emulator compilation disc. Another point is the Paddles, some games such as Breakout have lost gameplay due to the "Spinner" not incorporated. So should these be included?prfsnl_gmr wrote:(I will be leaving Combat, Dodge 'Em, Stellar Track, and Surround off, however, because all of those games are available on various Atari collections.)
Its your list, but maybe should consider adding all games that have not been released on other consoles EXCEPT thru Emulators? Again, the argument is that every 2600 game is emulated either thru a compilation disc or compilation cart, Rom download or the Flashback consoles. Other then emulation, games such as Stellar Track are really exclusive to the 2600.

Re: Best True Atari 2600 Exclusives
Thanks for the input. The point of this thread is to come up with a list of the best Atari 2600 games that are not available - legally - anywhere except on the console itself. Hopefully, it will become a guide for people who, like myself, already own the compilations but would like to see what else the system has to offer.
Otherwise, this thread would degenerate into another one of the readily available "Best of the Atari 2600" lists that includes games like Combat, Haunted House, Warlords, etc.
I will clarify this in the OP.

Re: Best True Atari 2600 Exclusives
Back on topic...how are:
G.I. Joe: Cobra Strike;
Journey: Escape; and
Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back?
These all appear to be exclusives, and I have read good things about each one. I have never actually played any of them, however.

I like the SW game a good deal...not the others so much.prfsnl_gmr wrote:Back on topic...how are:

May I point you to the title of the thread?Golgo 14 wrote:He never said anything about best, but regardless, I've always been a fan of Raiders. Re: Best True Atari 2600 Exclusives
I read elsewhere that Raiders of the Lost Ark is pretty good...so, I placed it on the list. I would love to see any other recommendations from the Racketboy community, however.

He could always indicate bad game on the list with this: ☠

ROTLA looks ok. I think AVGN did a review on it and that's where I saw it. HSW did a heck of a lot worse (but I actually ENJOYED E.T. so don't hate)
I also enjoyed Crazy Climber on the 2600, but it also received a Famicom port so it wouldn't count. Still, check it out.
