Sweet, I'll swing by and grab the first game from Gamestop today. My guess is it'll be disc only. I hopefully can get the second game and turn it into a nice custom jewel-case artwork set. Someone did a Hitman Collection custom artwork, maybe I should enlist their help!

Thanks, brunoafh! Looks like a somewhat spiritual successor to Shenmue, so count me in.

Awesome, really hope you enjoy it. Also note there's an HD collection for Yakuza 1 and 2, but as of now it's Japan only. Hopefully it at least gets a PSN release in North America.

Look out, and the 2nd one is the most expensive currently, I got 1, 3 and 4 for the same price as I paid for 2,which was around 30 for a nice complete copy.

I'm pretty sure Yakuza 5 will come to the US eventually seeing as how we got Yakuza 3, 4, and Dead Souls otherwise I'll be importing. 8)

Do they make HK versions with English subs like movies? Even if we get a PSN release with stripped content I won't mind.

No, the HK versions of these games don't have any English support.

I just finished Dead Souls a couple days ago. I was never really behind the whole idea of a zombie spinoff, which is why I put off playing it for so long. I love the series, so i had to give it a shot. I didn't really enjoy it too much. I've cleared all of the Yakuza games except Kurohyou (which I tried, but playing as a chinpira wasn't appealing), and Dead Souls was a big disappointment. Its only saving grace was playing as Majima. I love that guy. As usual, he is a mix of all Kansai male stereotypes rolled up into one, but he pulls it off very well.

I didn't even bother with the side stories since I wasn't really into the game. I did think the zombie kyabajo (hostess) part was funny, though.

I know this thread isn't about the series as a whole, but I just wanted to get that off my chest.

BTW, when I was in Tokyo for the Tokyo Game Show I saw this
advertisement for Yakuza 5 above the actual Don Quixote that's in the game
at the entrance of Kumurocho (Kabukicho).

Dead Souls didn't do much for me either. I wouldn't say I was quite disappointed by it, as I was not expecting much, but it was pretty lazy for a RGG game. One thing that really bugged me was the lack of melee combat. If I remember right when you first start Kiryuu's chapter you start with his basic melee moves, but I don't think you were even able to perform heat actions. I may be wrong though. I thought the shooting gameplay was fun arcade stuff though. Overall it had a very arcade feel which was one of it's strengths.

The story itself was fairly entertaining and properly melodramatic for the series. Goda's story about working at the Takoyaki stand and his final battle against the owner was hilarious. Majima's antics were very entertaining too. Goda and Majima's presence were the most enjoyable bits of the game for sure though.

Kurohyou I wasn't big on either. It was okay and nice to look at, but it just didn't feel like a proper entry of the series. The new combat system wasn't very good and no Kiryuu (not even a cameo!) made it feel utterly weird.

Awesome Don Quixote pic.
