Are there game in your guys' collections that are completely off limits to your kids?
Not just M-rated games, but more like valuables that you're afraid they might damage. How do they respond to that sort of thing?

I won't let them change PCB's on the arcade cabinets, or open up games that are kept in cardboard boxes (SNES / N64). I tell them if they need something to let me or mom know. Hasn't been an issue for the 9, 7, or 5yo. The 2yo doesn't get it of course, so everything that can be damaged is kept above her reach. On occasion, she'll get hold of a case or disc that the others left lying about and she'll tear it up. It stinks, but it is what it is. The kids are pretty good about understanding, no real problems.
Lately i've even told them that only the oldest (and my wife and I) are allowed to grab DS games, because we've been finding random loose games lying around. This is a bit tougher to enforce since it is a "new" rule.

Thanks for the response. That's really interesting to me for some reason. I guess I just find it hard to imagine being a kid, and having my parent(s) have games throughout the house. Let alone being told that certain games were "off-limits" to me, that'd probably make me wanna play them even more.mjmjr25 wrote:I won't let them change PCB's on the arcade cabinets, or open up games that are kept in cardboard boxes (SNES / N64). My eldest son having a go at the C64.

Awesome! Did he have fun with it? Or did he complain that his eyes felt weird? I remember all the buzz that it was making kids have eye impairments.dsheinem wrote:Virtual Boy boy
