Got around to catching up with the new Jojo's Bizarre adventure. So far I'm really getting into it, I actually haven't had much exposure to the Jojo universe despite always thinking that it looked really interesting. The biggest draw for me right now is that this series does a great job really distinguishing itself stylistically from other series. Everything from character designs to the basic logic the characters operate on is so quirky and interesting. The attention to detail in this show is also just amazing, every single character and entity has a thought out design even if they're only going to be onscreen for 30 seconds. I'm all caught up as of a few days ago and I can't wait to see what more this series has to offer.

One criticism I will bring up though is that the first arc felt a bit rushed. This is a common problem with newer shows though, and one that's almost hard to criticize because of its necessity. As a show you only really have about 5 episodes to get your audience interested, after that viewership drops substantially if people aren't already invested. I would like to be more critical of this phenomenon but in all honesty I'm exactly the same way with things like this.

I think they were called Anime Test Drives.

They'd give you a few episodes for a couple of bucks. And if you liked it (the series), you buy the whole set.

Some of these are a few years old now.

And Harmony Gold loves to milk their product

I'm not sure about this honestly (just in JoJo's defense here), big fans of the series so far seem to think the pacing was just fine for the first arc. The first part is 5 volumes and the second is 7, which will be covered up to episode 26. So it's got a little more time and should feel just right I'd say. As a new fan I don't have a problem with the pacing so far though, but no denying it was pretty fast at times.

I think the catch is is that all the big fans of the series seem to say the first part is the weakest entry by far, 2 is a big improvement, and then part 3 "Stardust Crusaders" is supposedly where the manga really gets creative and makes it mark. So that might be why a lot of fans give the first arc a pass on the fast pacing.

I think there's a good chance they'll animate more, either it can get extended or they'll make a sequel down the road to adapt Stardust Crusaders, which is 16 volumes so that could easily be 25-50 episodes within itself. And from there hopefully they keep going and cover everything. This series is oozing with style and seems to be a breath of fresh air.

The immensely fast pacing of the first arc was a plus for me. I haven't read the manga either, but man that first arc was so fast paced and intense, I loved every second of it. Was a real trip. Not one second was wasted, it was 9 episodes of pure manliness and action.

It just came off as so clumsy to me. It was like

HERE'S JOJO HE'S A NICE GUY OH HERE'S DIO HE'S A BAD GUY HE SUCH A BAD GUY HE'S SO BAD. ALSO THERE'S THIS GIRL BY THE WAY EVERYONE'S 20. ALSO RIPPLE JOJO LEARNED IT IN LIKE A DAY VAMPIRES.

I definitely enjoyed it, but the series just feels like it has serious ADHD sometimes.

I watched like the first four or so episodes of Noir once. I remember the show having a neat soundtrack and a kinda interesting premise, but it was also kinda boring and meandering. Don't really have much interest in seeing the rest of it.

I'm a little late, but last night watched Madoka Magica. In one sitting.

That was intense. I haven't watched anything that captivating in a long long time. I'm in so much awe I don't even want to play video games right now.
