Too early to start talking about rare/valuable Wii games?
Re: Too early to start talking about rare/valuable Wii games
What games are on the Data East collection? Wondering if it is worth getting outside of collecting.

It has arcade-perfect versions of BurgerTime, Caveman Ninja, and Bad Dudes...those are all the reasons that you need to pick up this gem of a collection.KDub wrote:What games are on the Data East collection? Wondering if it is worth getting outside of collecting.
(I bought it some time ago - before people began speculating on it - because I have fond memories of playing Bad Dudes at a local arcade in my youth.)

I'm curious to which library will have the most valuable games in the future between the PS3, WII and 360.. I would think the Wii would considering the library was the biggest even though it had lots of shovelware.. PS3 and 360 will certainly have a few that are valuable such as the rarer LE of NIS titles like Hyper Dimension Neptunia Mk II...

Agreed. Xbox 360 will fall flat in this category, I think. The LE Atelier games on PS3 already are fetching a premium, as is Ar Tonelico Ooga. I really wish I had jumped at ordering the HDN collector's editions...

In the U.S. anyway, MS has been less restrictive about making physical versions of games than Sony has. Record of Agarest War LE is fairly valuable (used starting at $68 on Amazon), and was a digital only game on the PS3 (subsequent titles in the series not so much, but the first one). While not valuable, Battle Fantasia also comes to mind for being digital only outside of importing.Retrogamer0001 wrote:EvilRyu2099 wrote:I'm curious to which library will have the most valuable games in the future between the PS3, WII and 360.. There are also games like Tales of Vesperia that only saw U.S. release on the 360, even if they had versions elsewhere, or the fair number of earlier RPGs in the generation that are 360-only on the console side.

Do you want to talk about imports?
Fatal Frame 4 sells for a premium (although was never really cheap to begin with, having to import from Japan). Games like Excitebots and Trauma Team never made it to Europe. Pandora's Tower, Day of Disaster, Fatal Frame 2 and Another Code R never made it to North America.
All of these games are fully playable in English with a bit of homebrew help. That might make them hold value well.
The only rare Wii game I really would've liked to nab is Fritz Chess... although I guess it's not really that strong of a Chess engine. I already own the DS version though, and will have to be happy with that.

I think that the Tatsunoko vs Capcom Aracade stick is going to be valuable also.

Picked one up from EB the other day for 50. You should check your local store if you're at all interested in getting one.SNKnicotine wrote:I think that the Tatsunoko vs Capcom Aracade stick is going to be valuable also.

Historically, how well have sticks retained their value based on branding?Retrogamer0001 wrote:Picked one up from EB the other day for 50. The prices going back up on those sticks may not have much to do with actual rarity, but simply due to reduced new stock at certain retailers. With how a lot of online pricing automatically adjusts to supply, if the perceived value is there due to Amazon running low on them (for example), that may not translate into long-term value. It's not like it's the only arcade stick for the Wii, and the sticks shown thus far for the Wii U attach to a Wii-mote if I recall.
As a consideration, the Fightstick SE with SFIV branding for the PS3 lists for $260-375 new on Amazon. $100+ for used. Are people actually buying them to collect, or are they simply up in price because they pretty much sold out when they were marked down to $20-30 like the WWE versions are now?

The WWE fight sticks are still 64.99 at Eb, as of last week. On another note, how did you embed your backloggery into your quote?isiolia wrote:Historically, how well have sticks retained their value based on branding?Retrogamer0001 wrote:Picked one up from EB the other day for 50.
