All the esc sites I've checked have in bold red lettering that all benefits will end at 12/29/2012. I'm not saying there will never be unemployment benefits again, but at this point in time, all benefits do end on 12/29 unless legislation is changed.dsheinem wrote: Unemployment benefits are (potentially) changing at the end of the year failing new legislation, but the claim that "there's only 2 weeks left" or that "no one in the country gets unemployment after 12/31" is just incorrect.

State goverments - rather than the federal government - pay unemployment benefits intially. It is only the "extended" benefits that are paid by the federal government, and only the "extended" benefits will be cut off at the end of the year.
Here is an article from the Charlotte Observer explaining the effect that the "fiscal cliff" will have on unemployment benefits in North Carolina:

Hopefully, this article will set things straight.

Sorry for sounding ignorant, but what are the 300/400 level classes?dsheinem wrote: Communication Studies. It was a methods class (they are usually unpopular in almost any major anyway), so at least he got out fairly early on by recognizing he couldn't understand some of the methods used in the discipline. He'd have had a hell of a time in 300 and 400 level classes anyway...
Or maybe he just hated me.![]()
After reading what Bonesnap wrote, I suppose the guy could have some issues on his end, but that still doesn't make it Dsh's fault. He said he was dropping them because of a teacher... if he looks back in 10 years and realize he stopped pursuing his dream because of pride, he won't be happy with himself.

Usually courses are listed by level. 300/3000 and 400/4000 are usually senior or graduate level depending on how the University scores the classes.puke_face wrote: Sorry for sounding ignorant, but what are the 300/400 level classes?
For some reason I had been thinking that Dish wrote "fuck off" on a student's paper not vice versa.

Honestly, that would have been a pretty awesome move - and it would make him feared by students for generations. ("Not only did he fail this kid out...he wrote "Fuck Off!" on his exam paper!")Luke wrote: For some reason I had been thinking that Dish wrote "fuck off" on a student's paper not vice versa.
EDIT: Thinking about it, law professors often do basically the same thing without the use of profanity.

Ah, I see. I went to tech school, so never had the privilege of seeing how a normal college works.Luke wrote:Usually courses are listed by level. 300/3000 and 400/4000 are usually senior or graduate level depending on how the University scores the classes.puke_face wrote: Sorry for sounding ignorant, but what are the 300/400 level classes?

Yup, there are much better ways to undercut someone when grading and leaving comments than to curse at them.prfsnl_gmr wrote:

The downside: the students who need to hear it usually don't read the comments anyway

Smiled/Concerned: Really interesting trip to the bank today. While exiting my car, I noticed that the lady parked next to me was chugging a 24oz. can of Natural Light. I then also noticed a dh conley high school teacher parking permit hanging from her rear view mirror. I told the teller "there's a lady in a white van chugging booze in your parking lot". The van was still there when I left, hopefully the authorities arrived in time.
On the way home and in my neighborhood I saw what I thought was a raven in the road. Thing kept getting bigger, and bigger, until I got close and it wasn't giving ground. It looked like a wild turkey, but when it flew off I realized it was a vulture (not of the John Stamos variety). Wingspan must have been close to five feet and boy was it a beautiful bird.

Think about it this way. 100 level is for 1st year freshman, 200 for 2nd year sophmores, etc. This is why you see the cliche for something like "Basket Weaving 101". It is a beginning introduction to the topic for someone that has little to no previous knowledge on the subject.puke_face wrote:Ah, I see.
