The Vita also has the advantage of being region free. So games like Project Diva f and whatever else is Japan exclusive can be imported. But again, that isn't something that any 'casual' gamers would be doing. :P

No, but I sure as heck wish the 3DS was region-free. Funny how Sony and Nintendo basically traded region-locking policies over time.

I'm considering importing Ys IV. I've heard nothing from XSeed (or anyone else for that matter) and fear we may not get it in the states...

Wasn't the game JUST released a while back? I'd give it at least a year before importing.

It released in September I believe.

I had a sony rep come to the doctors office that work at and i had a chance to talk to her about the vita and i asked the same question. She said that it was because the games require alot of data to be streamed quickly to reduce load times.

That's (part of) the official line, the other part being copy protection.

It is also a questionable claim. Spec'ing class 10 SD cards would give more performance for a fraction of the price, unless the Vita is crippling read/right speeds over USB.
