And Joe lied too. Got to the boss w/3 bombs AND a spare life. Hit that dude w/7 total bombs and when I died he still had 40% of his health. That thing is going to take a ton of work:/
Nice run!

I just noticed you're using C-shot style. I usually use the C-laser, so maybe that's the difference since the boss fights are longer. On the St 6 boss, I try to dodge the entire first pattern with the round purple bullets. The second pattern with the pink and blue round bullets gets a little tricky so I usually dodge as long as I can and then fire off a laser bomb when I get cornered. I usually end up bombing through the purple ninja stars that come out next. The gaps are pretty small compared to the round bullets. The final pattern with the needle bullets is the hardest for me, so I end up laser bomb spamming, and I think I end up using about 3 bombs on it.

I think you get 6 bombs with your last life, so if you can get to the last pattern with 3-4 bombs left, you should be good.

That sucks about the burning plastic fumes, dunpeal. I hope you have a good recovery.

Good thought on laser and just tried that for a few runs.

I def. see the first bosses and midbosses going down faster - but stage 4 ate me alive and I barely limped into stage 5 where I died out quickly. Next 2 runs didn't get past stage 4. Not used to switching up to lazer and shot doesn't do enough damage on the enemies after stage 3 now, so i'm getting overwhelmed. I think this might be the way to the all, but it feels like i'm starting over.

LOL Mike, that's exactly how I felt trying to go from laser to shot style but in reverse. I thought shot would be easier to chain up to the 330 loop requirement but the subtle differences in the ship threw me off by a lot and I had trouble in the last two stages. I've gone back to laser since that's what I'm more used to. I find in the last two stages I end up using the shot most of the time sweeping back and forth across the screen but I have to focus the laser on the big enemies to deal some more damage. With the shot-style, the laser doesn't engage as quickly so my timing is off.

As you can see I'm a huge shmup guy and I played a lot of shmup games like strikers 1945, Darius, Gradius, R-type, Raiden (I really want to play raiden IV) and My favourite, Thunder force!. Sorry About the introduction...

noiseredux - 9,945,930 - Stage 5 - Type B (Shot) - 153 - Saturn

I am still shaking right now. I really thought I was gonna hit 10M, but I'm still super happy with this score -- and it was the first time I hate Stage 5 -- AND made it to 5th boss the first time there! I tell you this for a fact friends. I have never played a shmup so well as I just played my final credit on this run.

Awesome work, man! Isn't this series phenomenal at producing that kind of feeling? :D

hell yeah. I seriously beat the 4th boss (for the first time ever) with 1 credit and no bombs left and let out a loud "OMIGAWD!" only to be confronted with the 5th stage and just intense panic mixed with endorphins.

BTW, my last post was confused -- I meant to say I beat the 4th boss my first time up against him. I DID NOT make it to the 5th boss.

But I seriously felt like the greatest shmupper who ever shmupped making my way through that stage, feeling I was just not going to avoid this oncoming spray of bullets yet miraculously grazing my way through each. It was like watching really precise ballet or something.

Stage 5 was just a fucking blur of a mess that left me destroyed quickly hahaha. Sorry for the confusion, my head was still spinning while posting that score so I was little backwards on what had just occurred.

EDIT: also, I didn't really answer yr question -- yes. Yes. DonPachi is quickly becoming one of my favorite shmup series of all time.

Nice job noiseredux! The St. 4 boss is one of the coolest, with the alternating laser cannons.

Stage 5 blitzes you with a wall of bullets in the opening. It's one of those "your credit ends now" moments.
