shoOt'em'up bug....

Post by temple »

I've caught it...
played as a kid, beyond that never looked back...
Until about a year ago I was a friends house and we played some SuperC,I don't know what happend, but since that nite I've been on a shoot em up binge...
I love how "simple" the game play concept is,and then add in the mechanics...so awsome...
I've been bit by the shmup bug,no going back now...

there's a lot of us shmup addicts here. You'll fit in just fine. Also, our Together Retro game club is playing DoDonPachi this month, so feel free to join in!

If you have a USB arcade stick or 360 controller, MAME is great as well.

I don't know how I wasn't into this genre when I was a kid. I'm obsessed with it now. There is just something about the short playing time and single objective that I enjoy. Plus you feel like a badass when you make it through a difficult bullet pattern.

I have a DC,ps2,and a 360...Yea I wish I had a computer,as I have a few sticks for the 360...I'm pretty sure I have all the NA ps2 shooters,and all the disc shooters for 360 too still need futari,and mmp/pink sweets tho....
I didn't even have a console this time last year, but after playing SuperC at my friends,I dug out the ps2 and started soaking up as much info as I could, then started snatching up any and every shoot em up I could find....when I got my DC off Craig's list it was only because it was! $50 with 20 games one being mars matrix, used the others for trade credit at the local used media spot...I use to,and still do collect punk records, collecting shooters kinda brings up the same kind of feelings, nothing like digging thru crates of stuff to find something awsome!!!

Ah, the two best things in the world. Collecting records and Video games!

I'm with you guys,I love the layers of mechanics, scoring techniques, and the 2D art, bring all those things together, and for me its one of the best forms of entertainment around.....
Oh btw when I play a good shoot'em'up it really feels like a brain exercise, kinda like I'm using the same part of my brain that I use to do math or something lolz....

I'm confused.. you played SuperC, which is a side scrolling, platforming, run and gun, but it gave you the shmup bug?
