Rayman 2 is a great game, and I have played all but the PC and iPod ports.

The PS2 version is a slight upgrade to the DC version, which was better than both the N64 and PS1 versions. It is also less expensive than both the DC and N64 versions. Accordingly, I would choose that version.

Since you have already played the game, however, you may want to consider the 3DS port ("Rayman 3D") for a slightly different experience.

I would rank them DC > N64 > PC > PS2 > PS1. I don't know much about the iOS version, so I can't fit it in. The DC version is best because it is the entire original game running at a solid 60 FPS w/AA, plus a few small extras. N64 is the original version of the game, making it the plain vanilla edition. The instant load times are real nice. PC is identical to N64, but I rank it lower due to the fact that you have to mess around with gamepads, getting it to run on modern rigs, etc. 3D platformers weren't designed with the PC in mind. The PS2 version is supposed to be an upgraded edition, but somehow they managed to screw everything up. They added unneeded voice acting, changed the look of many environments, added an annoying hub world, there's frequent long load screens in between level segments, and the framerate frequently drops. Still better than it is on PS1, though, which is just the original version stripped down so that it could run on the weaker PS1 hardware. Certain parts of levels have been shrunk or bypassed, and the graphics and framerate are the worst of the bunch.

You didn't mention the GBC, DS, or 3DS versions in your post but I'll give you the low-down on them as well. The GBC game is totally, 100% different than all the others. There was no way the GBC could ever run a full 3D platformer, so it plays basically the same as Rayman 1 did. The DS version is the N64 version with clumsy controls and framerate issues. The 3DS version is the DC version, with 3D added in (of course) and a not-quite-so-solid framerate, although it's not as bad as it is on PS2, PS1, or DS.

Latest PC version. It's the best one and easy to find. Sega CD is a port of it but it's going to cause more troubles than just running it on your PC.

Think I'm going to try out the Grandia games soon.

I have the first game on both Saturn and PlayStation. I've already decided on PlayStation because, ya know, it's in English.

But how about part 2? I have it on Dreamcast and PS2. I'm learning towards Dreamcast right now because:
- it's the "original" version
- I prefer the Dreamcast controller
- I don't have the instructions for my PS2 copy

What do you all think?

DC hands down. I've never played that version myself, but all the lag in the PS2 port is supposedly not there in the original version... so they funked the port up. Think everyone says it's best on the DC.
