Namco Bandai Games today revealed the first details in regards to their just-announced multiplatform title, “Dark Souls 2.” The action role-playing game will be developed by From Software, the same studio behind the first “Dark Souls” in addition to “Demon’s Souls.” It is slated to come out for the PC, Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 platforms with a new story and locations in addition to a revamped multiplayer mode. You can check out some screens from the debut trailer of the upcoming video game in the slideshow at the top of this article and the details below:
"Built upon the foundation established by Souls series creator and Dark Souls II Supervisor, Hidetaka Miyazaki with development helmed by FromSoftware Director Tomohiro Shibuya, Dark Souls II will feature a new hero, a new storyline, and an unfamiliar world for players to survive in while delivering its signature brand of unrelenting punishment that players hunger for. Epic battles with gruesome enemies and blood-thirsty bosses await adventurers as they traverse through a devastated world filled with death and despair; only those who are strong willed or cunning can survive this journey to achieve great glory. Players seeking to share their experience will discover a revamped server-based multiplayer mode that will put a distinct Dark Souls II twist on the concept of playing with others."

Carlson Choi and Tomohiro Shibuya also have a few choice words in regards to “Dark Souls 2.” You can check out the comments from Carlson Choi, the vice president of marketing at Namco Bandai Games, below:
"Dark Souls II retains the core essence of Dark Souls while evolving to present new twists and challenges that are sure to please longtime fans and attract new comers to the series. FromSoftware is going to take a very dark path with Dark Souls II; players will need to look deep within themselves to see if they have the intestinal fortitude to embark on this journey."
The statement from Tomohiro Shibuya, the director for “Dark Souls 2,” can be found below:
"This new chapter in the Dark Souls saga presents opportunities for us to drive innovation in gameplay design, develop an entirely new story, and expand the scope of the world in which the player interacts with the game. We have taken these necessary steps with Dark Souls II in order to evolve the overall experience of the Dark Souls series. The entire development team is striving to make Dark Souls II an experience that is fresh while not forsaking its roots in presenting players with challenging gameplay. Our goal is to surprise and delight our fans with new experiences and plot twists while enticing new players to join our dark journey."
Namco Bandai Games has not yet announced a release date for the sequel.

So happy that games like this are generating enough interest for more of them. Can't wait for this.

Yea I heard about this last night and I've been praising the sun since. Dark souls 2: electric boogaloo.
I'm hoping they get to use some of the ideas that were cut from dark souls. The idea of a Gary Oak type rival is the main thing that springs to mind.
Either way day one purchase for me.

Re: Dark Souls II Announced
Now I have to pick up Dark Souls.
I was waiting to get a PS3, seeing as I thought Demon Souls was connected. According to a friend, I'm apparently wrong.

I would normally be excited for this release, and would be a day 1 buyer, but my recent experience with Namco caused me to decide to boycott all further Namco releases. I just don't appreciate how I was treated as a customer nor how they handled the situation. F Namco and all their future releases.

There isn't a storyline connection between the two games, but Dark Souls is a gameplay sequel of Demon's Souls.Forlorn Drifter wrote:Now I have to pick up Dark Souls.

Dark Souls is what 3D Castlevania should've been.
My only issue with Dark Souls is framerate dips, I imagine a new one will have no issues there I hope. Stoked! GOTY contender for sure.

I'm wondering about this. The PC version of Dark Souls doesn't have this issue, which makes me wonder whether it'll be the better choice this time around also.Xeogred wrote: My only issue with Dark Souls is framerate dips, I imagine a new one will have no issues there I hope.
