It doesn't seem any faster. Maybe it was for the freeze issue or something.

Can people who are having slow OS issues go into network settings and manually assign their IP and DNS settings. These can be found in your Routers setup page, or copied from command prompt on a windows pc connected to your router by typing in ipconfig /all and pressing return. Or on a Mac in terminal type ifconfig -a and press return. Obviously you're going to want to assign your Wii-U its own dedicated IP address (if you can get on your DHCP client table in your router you'll be able to see what other IP addresses are being used on your network).

This seems to have alleviated a lot of the pregnant pauses I was experiencing whilst using the OS. However this may be placebo effect. I'm not hundred percent sure, would be nice to see if anybody else gets the same results. It definitely fixed the constant dropped connections for me (my system would connect and work fine for a short period then be unable to connect to the internet, until I rebooted my router AND/OR set up a new connection on the Wii-U).

I did that. That will always speed up your internet. You can do that for your computer too btw. You're not running any security risks until you DMZ or port forward something.

Why would you say that it will always speed up your internet? That doesn't make sense.

Haven't had any network drop outs so far, but I've also only used the console for a few hours. So far so good. Yea, some load times can be slow, but they're still as good or better than the PS3 and 360 load times. The eShop definitely loads faster than the PS Store. Can't remember how it compares to the Xbox store.

I really like the fact that I can watch youtube on the TV and browse forums at the same time on the pad. Been watching Game Center CX with it. Before I just left my youtube viewing to my PC and it is much more comfortable to lay out on the couch obviously.

So just logged on. The system is noticeably faster. Miiverse opens in seconds. Friends list takes no more than 2 now.

One assumes you're picking your DNS settings based on speed except just using your ISP's DNS servers. You can run programs that will tell you the fastest DNS servers to use, whether they be your ISPs (unlikely) or Google's, or OpenDNS.

Once you have a static IP you can port forward or DMZ those items which will also speed up your connection.

If I remember correctly, Iwata said something awhile back about how the Wii was like the word "we" and was for all of us, now they are trying to do that plus focus on giving "you"/U just what you want.
