The game is fun but I feel it's a step back from the first one simply due to the track design. It's now much more difficult to drift long enough for a boost because the turns are sharper and shorter. The flying and boating are fun. The game seems harder than the original. The easy mode is way too easy but the normal mode is a touch too hard.

Unfortunately they have not been patched yet. Then only issue I have seen is the check point on the boost race challenge, non other glitches in the 5+ hours I have played. It sucks that that huge glitch is present though.

Good to know. Either me or a friend will be picking it up soon! Can't wait for some 5 player action.

I never played the first, but I feel that drifting plentiful, it takes a bit of skill to keep it going, but on most of the tracks, there is plenty of room to get at least level 2 boosts. The Monkey Ball track is drift city though!

Picked this up for my Wii U during the Toys r US buy one get one 50% off sale, based on all the positive praise I have heard from you guys. I have to say, had I known it would be this awesome, I would have gotten it at launch

With all the damn positive reception the game has been getting here and abroad, I just couldn't hold off from buying it any longer even with my financial woes. So I convinced my cousin to get a copy for himself as well and take advantage of the TRU sale going on and split the cost in the middle ($32.50).

I didn't play the first installment outside of a game or two in the arcade release version, but I must say, I'm loving this sequel very much.

Man The later levels of the world tour are gruelingly hard. It takes the wife and I at least 2 to 3 tries on the medium setting. The boost challenge on the golden Axe stage, and the ghost race on the Billy Hatcher stage almost made me throw the game pad. Had to turn the difficulty to easy just to get past it. But I keep coming back for more, so it's not a bad thing, just don't expect to breeze through the game and unlock everything.

I'm wondering why Billy Hatcher continues to get so much love. He and his track were in the first game, too.

By the way, how do you unlock more characters in this game? I've only been able to unlock my Mii. I've raced up to the point where the mirrored tracks are available. I think I've done a couple of the boring challenge ones as well. There don't seem to be a lot of tracks in the game, 10 or less I'm guessing. Hopefully that's just based on what I've seen so far and there's actually more.

Oh man, that Billy Hatcher time trial race is tough. I'm at the point when I need more stars on all the stages I've already completed in B Class. I was stuck at 119 stars so long (120 to unlock Gilius from Golden Axe and the next gate.)

You unlock most of the characters from earning stars in the World Tour mode. Also, you unlock the "Console mods" for certain character sets this way.

As for the Billy Hatcher love, I assume that since this is a retro-gaming site and Billy Hatcher came out more recently than almost any other Sega franchise in the game there is a disconnect due to age. Hell, I'm a huge Sega fan and had to google who Billy Hatcher when playing the first game.

There are more than 10 tracks. You unlock characters with Stars. There are branching paths in career mode, that usually have a race or two before you can access and unlock a character. So far I've unlocked Shadow.

I have unlocked a few characters, and a ton of tracks, but I can tell its going to get harder to have all the stars needed to do so. Who does everyone like racing with? I started with sonic because his stats were good, and kept using him, and now he is fully leveled up. I wonder if it is worth it to upgrade other characters? We should set up some online action with the guys here on their respective consoles.
