I had a lot of ammo when I went in there and I had basically none when I left. I was like f this and just went all out.
The machine gun fires too fast or something. I killed like two zombies with it before it ran out of ammo. I still need to find that damn crossbow though. I found a backpack that gave me two more slots in the palace but I think there was another one earlier in the game that I missed too. I think I am going to pick this back up tonight. I am ready for my redo. I want to find all of the cctv boxes I missed too.
So does someone remember where the crossbow is? I have to be the only person playing this game running around without it. I went back to that dudes apartment and didn't see anything. I probably don't need it but it would be nice to have a silent long range weapon with retrievable ammo. I've been storing crossbow bolts in the chest at the safe house for when/if I finally get the xbow.

In the... mansion? Queens residence? Whatever? After you go through the back entrance, and meet the infected survivor? That area. Anyways, on the lower floor, where the grand piano sits, towards the stairs, there is a statue on the left, and an empty place where on should be on the right. Walk into where it should be. It will lead to a narrow corridor with the crossbow.
Also it's useless and got me killed the last time I played the game.
Yeah I have that mission now, went half way there and ran the heck back after I hit a bad spot and didn't have any way to fend them off. I kind of needed to save and get ready to leave anyway...
BTW you can use the CCTV monitors to look for ammo, weapons, health and general other things in the game. Activate them and then look at the gamepad, you can click on each area and if you activated a CCTV box it will give you a list of items that can be found and new intel.
I haven't found several of the cctv boxes. I am pretty set for the moment on weapons and ammo though. I have found two XL backpacks so I can carry 14 items at a time now. Still no crossbow but I have a rifle, double barrel shotgun, pump action shotgun, sniper rifle, assault rifle, machine gun, a bit of ammo collected and a few grenades. All of my guns have their power, capacity, etc enhanced too. I do wish their was another melee weapon to be found in the game though.
Just beat the game tonight. Tip, stock up on ammo for the last part. There are three endings. I got the worst ending because I died on the way to the Tower of London. So make sure to stock up and be ready so you don't have to play the entire game over to get the good or very good endings.
Honestly I found the melee weapons to be lacking. They go through bullets like candy and weren't all that useful against a hoard. Molotov cocktails and grenades for me.
I was like f this and just went all out.
