Over the last few months I got 2 PS1 replacement laser units to try to resurrect some of the PS1s littering my house. Neither one worked. One of the sellers suggested that maybe the anti-static point has not been desoldered. Do PS1 lasers even have an anti-static point?
My Google-Fu brings up no useful results.

Mostly harmless
Re: PS1 laser anti-static point?
hi Hateshinai , checkout this Thread below in it it describes a lot of the time PSX Replacement Lasers come DOA.
Also as ive said in that Thread im buying second hand PSX's and using the Lasers from them instead of buying Replacement ones.

Re: PS1 laser anti-static point?
I have seen that thread before. Thanks.
I have 4 or 5 PS1s I picked up cheap over the last year or so, but none of them have a reliable laser. I think part of the problem might be that here in Malta practically all the PS have been modded (chipped) and that might have put extra strain on the lasers. The only fully working one I have got is a PSOne which has not been modded.
I can play on the PSOne and my PS2 but I wanted one of the grey monsters to be functional again. Now I just gave up since I set up my HTPC to run ePSXe and I play the games that way using a PS2 pad and an adapter.
