I'd be willing to bet money that Nintendo will change the name to something else when they either release a slim edition or drop the price in 6 to 10 months.
And am I the only person that realizes that the Wii U is basically just a console version of the ds?

That's a neat way of thinking of it. If Nintendo ever wants to, they could re-release all kinds of DS games on Wii U.flex wood wrote: And am I the only person that realizes that the Wii U is basically just a console version of the ds?

Yeah because a full name change for a price drop would make total marketing sense!

Re: Wii-U thoughts so far
I think the nomenclature will definitely prove to be an issue. To be honest when I talk about it at work I'm almost embarrassed to call it the Wii U. It sounds so dumb. A couple people at my work thought it was just a tablet add on to the Wii as well. The name does not differentiate it enough.
I seem to remember hearing that Nintendo was considering a name change late in the game, then scrapped it I guess because it was too close to launch. That may mean they realize its a problem. However what can they do about it? For this generation they will just have to live with Wii U and 3DS sounding extremely similar to their predecessors. Best thing they could probably do is cut off the Wii and DSi quick.

Re: Wii-U thoughts so far
In case anyone misses it from the other thread, there is a new system update (2.1) that should fix the freezing issue.
My trade thread, updated 7/14

I went to look for the update and my system was already doing it in the background. Now I don't know how to leave the update screen though but I think it is almost done.
