Game Sack - Games That Defy Genre

Post by Redifer »

This time we look at some hard to classify games (unless you want to be extremely vague and just call 'em an ACTION or PUZZLE or whatnot).

Kirby's Dream Course and Balloon Fight are two of my favorites! Glad to see them get some air time: have you also checked out the Game Boy Balloon Kid?

Too late for the show, but definitely worth looking into. It has always been one of my more favorite GB games.

Many times I have passed up a copy of Balloon Fight on NES thinking it looked lame or like shovelware... only to now kick myself. It looks fun as hell!

Nice games. I bought Kirby's Dream Course within months of its released after renting it.

Also, good job on the rendering - I recently got an LCD TV and my laptop has an HDMI out so I watch your episodes in 1080p on there and the footage from the newer consoles looks and sounds amazing.

Balloon Fight is a must for the NES, a great launch title.

Interestingly I had similar thoughts. Dave picked Balloon Fight for this episode, wrote it up and recorded the footage. I hadn't read what he had to say about it nor looked at his footage before I played the Balloon Trip derivative on the Wii U. It was immensely fun. I wondered if it had anything to do with Balloon Fight and lo and behold it certainly did. So I wrote up a quick thing for the Wii U version to add to the show. Then Dave came down to make the episode and we recorded the two-player segments of Balloon Fight and it was awesomely fun. Gotta check out the GameBoy version, too as I've only been hearing good things.
