I remember that cartoon being VERY slow-moving and boring. Not at all like the action-packed comics.Gamerforlife wrote:I'd like to check out that old Spawn cartoon on HBO with Keith David. I'm wondering how though. Can I find it on netflix, DVD or HBOGo maybe?
I just recently played The Darkness 2 again, then starting reading The Darkness comic books, while reading up on some Batman books. I'm in the mood for some dark storytelling and I think Spawn fits the bill. Would it be bad to watch the cartoon with no knowledge of the comics? All I really know about Spawn comes from this:

Re: Let's have a western animation thread
It's very slow paced and after 9 hours of content it still doesn't feel like much actually happened by the end. I did find it enjoyable and there are some parts that shine, but overall it's not that great. It is worth looking into if you like seeing western animation actually targeted to an adult audience though.BurningDoom wrote: I remember that cartoon being VERY slow-moving and boring. Re: Let's have a western animation thread
I made a list of my top 25 action cartoon series (not feature-length cartoons) of all-time. Obviously, being a comic book fan, I'm gonna have a lot of comic cartoons on this list. I'm also a child of the late 80s and 90s, which definetly shows on this list:
1. Justice League/Justice League Unlimited (Same show, it just changed names after season 2 ended)
2. The Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes
3. Batman: The Animated Series (90s)
4. Gargoyles
5. Spider-Man (90s)
6. X-Men (90s)
7. Dragonball Z (before Kai)
8. Superman: The Animated Series (90s)
9. Ronin Warriors
10. The Real Ghostbusters
11. The Guyver: Bio-Booster Armor
12. Thundercats (80s)
13. G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero (80s)
14. He-Man and the Masters of the Universe (80s)
15. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (80s)
16. Thundar: The Barbarian
17. The Record of Lodoss War
18. Green Lantern: The Animated Series
19. Transformers: Robots in Disguise (80s)
20. The Real Adventures of Johnny Quest (90s)
21. Skeleton Warriors
22. Reboot
23. G Gundam
24. Transformers: Beast Wars (90s)
25. Captain N: The Game Master (a.k.a. Captain Nintendo, and often featuring a Legend of Zelda short as well!)
What do you guys think? Agree? Disagree? Have a list of your own to share?

Re: Let's have a western animation thread
I still love the 90's Spider-Man cartoon! Oh man, that'd probably be at the very top of my list (unless we're counting anime). I know most people hail Batman: TAS as being better, but I'm putting my foot down: make mine Marvel!BurningDoom wrote: 5. Spider-Man (90s)

The best of the best
1. Cowboy Bebop
2. Justice League Unlimited
3. Gargoyles
Everything else:
4. Transformers (after Transformers the movie, when they brought in all the new Transformers. I loved Rodimus Prime and Galvatron)
5. Rurouni Kenshin - Including the ill named Samurai X prequel
6. Slayers
7. Swat Kats
8. Thundercats
9. Silverhawks
10. GI Joe - 80s version
11. Zelda - From the Mario show with Captain Lou Albano
12. X-Men - The fox cartoon from years ago, classic opening theme
13. Dragonball Z - We can make fun of it now, but I loved it years ago
14. Superman: The Animated Series
15. Batman Beyond
16. Ronin Warriors - The power's in the armor! Ronin Warriors!
17. Jayce and the Wheeled Warriors
18. He-Man and the Masters of the Universe
19. Spider-Man (90s)
20. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles - 80s version of course
21. Mighty Morphin Power Rangers - It might as well have been a cartoon so I included it. I have fond memories of the original team with the green/white ranger
22. Batman: The Animated series
23. Voltron - The classic one with the big cats
24. C.O.P.S - "Fighting crime in a future time, protecting Empire City from Big Boss and his gang of crooks"
25. She Ra - Yeah, I watched it. So sue me
That leaves out a long list of shows I loved that I just don't think fit under action cartoons

According to the internet, the Samurai Jack movie is still going to be made. I'm really hopeful that it will come. I love that series so much. It had a huge effect on me.
I love the Scotsman.

Why the hell has Klei Entertainment not done a Samurai Jack game? Seriously, seems like a no brainer to me

Do you guys not like new stuff? Venture Bros. should definitely be on that list, and not having Futurama on is blasphemy.
