yeah man, when you add in all the new characters (including unlockable ones) the roster pretty much doubles.

Sold-Deace lacks the sound quality of Sol-Feace, although in game play they are identical. There are also no cutscenes on the Genesis game. I find it funny, since the game was a pack-in for the Sega CD and was ported later to the Genesis. I can't think of many games that were developed first for Sega CD and ported to cart later on. I say this now, because I'm sure a few examples are going to pop up! :-P
Actually Sol Deace came out in the US before the Sega CD did and therefore before Sol Feace. Obviously in Japan is was CD only, just like Earnest Evans. In the US Earnest Evans was released only as a cartridge game (also released before the Sega CD in the US, I believe). I'm pretty sure that both games were originally intended to be cart games as they were developed, but Wolfteam quickly re-appropriated them to CDs by adding new music and cut scenes with horrible screen tearing/v-sync issues. Without these additions, both games easily fit the average 8 MEGA POWER carts of the day.

I like the music on the Genesis version of Ecco the Dolphin more than on the Sega CD. Maybe I'm in the vast minority?

I don't know but you are definitely not alone. That cd music is just the common type of music in the age when cd-quality music started to rule the vg industry. That cd "quality" - in a technical meaning - was enough then but not aged too well. Ecco on the Megadrive did. One of the best chiptunes in the 16 bit era.
I'm going to rip the chip music to wav and prepare a modified Ecco CD image with those audio tracks. That will be the ulimate version!

I find different songs sound better on each version. I do think that the best music in the game (Welcome to the Machine) is better on Mega Drive/Genesis than CD though.

Another reason why Ecco 1 could be considered better on Sega CD i due to it having about 6 extra levels. I noticed that isn't mentioned on your list.

There is also the 5-game Arcade Classics disc, or whatever it's called. I think the added game is Super Monaco GP, but I forget exactly.

Golden Axe only has one-player on the Sega CD version, for some idiotic reason.

Yeah, you actually have to find Atlantis in the Sega CD one. You just kind of end up there in the Genesis version.
