Multiplayer Mario 64 mod
One of the most impressive N64 mods Ive seen in a long time
And it works with the texture mods:

Re: Multiplayer Mario 64 mod
i would be ecstatic if there were a way to make this a cart and playable on a console. i doubt it'd ever be possible, though...

I saw this a while back when I stumbled upon a download for Super Mario Star Road. I would love to try both of them.

This would be my (sort of) solution:aaron wrote:i would be ecstatic if there were a way to make this a cart and playable on a console. i doubt it'd ever be possible, though...

Depends on if the hackers who made it actually put much consideration into whether it'd run on the actual hardware.aaron wrote:i would be ecstatic if there were a way to make this a cart and playable on a console. i doubt it'd ever be possible, though...
There are n64 flash carts. I suppose someone could always try throwing this hack onto one and see if it worked.

tried it on my 64drive flash cart, it's a no go.AppleQueso wrote:There are n64 flash carts. I suppose someone could always try throwing this hack onto one and see if it worked.
the only Super Mario 64 hack that worked completely (and theres a tons of them) is Super Mario 64 Beta Remake. Super Mario Star Road, Super Mario 74, and Super Mario 64: Kirby Edition only boots to the menu.

Bummer. Guess most hackers working on this stuff really don't care much about hardware compatibility.sevin0seven wrote:tried it on my 64drive flash cart, it's a no go.AppleQueso wrote:There are n64 flash carts. I suppose someone could always try throwing this hack onto one and see if it worked.

N64 emulation probably isn't really good enough to make hacks with hardware as a focus anyway I suppose.

it can be done! just the hacks that are created (topic) are for emulation alone.
there are also two english translated patched roms that works with the flash cart as well:

FWIW, not all flash carts are the same. Next time I'm home and gaming I'll see if by chance it'll load up on my Everdrive64. Still a long shot, but hey.
Gunning for a licensed NES NTSC-U set, follow the madness and poverty here!

Re: Multiplayer Mario 64 mod
This looks like tons of fun. To start, hats off to the developer who put this together. This was clearly a labor of love.
That said, I can't help but see a few nagging problems. Camera control on a two-player game in 3D is inherently problematic. Sometimes both players are on screen; other times player two is off screen while the camera stays on player one. Player one has a reflection in the mirror; player two has no reflection.
The real pet peeve here is the color scheme for player two. The grey suit bugs me. One could just have easily painted player two green like Luigi or yellow like Wario.
These are just minor concerns though. Overall, this mod looks awesome. The programmer has done well.
