Both of these movies have been remade. Haven't seen either one. I think I have the Sisters remake somewhere (got it off of CG years ago, after hearing it was never released, but I heard otherwise).

The Maniac remake stars Elijah Wood as the main character. The trailer looked alright, so the movie will either live up to it or make it look better than it really is.

It included the original murders of the first film by Jason's mom in the pre-credits scene, then it went through motions of Jason coming back, murdering kids, and even finding his hockey mask. Which all happened across the span of the 3 first films, originally.
yeah I know, but if you *want* to look at it like a sequel, you can also see it that way. Like the lady when they knock on her door mentions a bunch of murders from years ago, y'know? So it can almost be like "just another buncha kids getting slaughtered" kind of thing. (I just prefer to see it that way I think :))

I'm pretty sure they were referring to the murders committed by Jason's mom when they mentioned the murders from years ago.

yeah I know. And Bay even said it was meant as a remake of 1-3. I'm just saying that because it's my favorite series, and because I don't care for remakes, I tried to just put myself in the mindset: how would this movie hit me if it were just a sequel? Just the next film in the series? And if you look at it is just some kids showing up to Crystal Lake in 2009 (as they chose not to make the film's setting 1980) then it's actually a pretty damn enjoyable movie.

KILLING THEM SOFTLY

It's like a Kevin Smith movie without the funny. It's dialogue, dialogue, dialogue. It's nothing new, very predictable, and almost seems like QT fan fiction. It's star studded, but that doesn't stop the movie from being dull. It's not a total waste of time, simply a movie I wouldn't recommend.

Check out this trailer for A GLIMPSE INSIDE THE MIND OF CHARLES SWAN III. Interesting, no?

Also the tone and overall feel of it felt in line with most of the original series. Not perfect by any means, but I think it fit in well with the series. I think its probably the strongest of the remakes of Friday, Texas, and Nightmare. It is a shame they wasted all of the momentum it had. It made a lot of money but they didn't seem to care to make another.
