Shmup of the Month Club 2012
Re: Shmup of the Month Club (Mars Matrix)
Should we have a vote... to see if we should vote... on how we vote?

How is that even possible?

I vote for a vote. There's nothing voting can't solve about voting.

yeah. options are (I think):
-same system as last year (vote for devs then games)
-top participants pick one month (no other criteria)
-brunoafh picks everything
missing anything?
Re: Shmup of the Month Club (Mars Matrix)
If we're still on board with the devs then games method, then I'll go with that. As I said, weed out the ones that weren't all that spectacular, bring them back in the future, and maybe introduce some new ones that we overlooked last year. That's probably the easiest way. We got all month to vote on them too. If we pick a dev that had a close vote last year, we can switch over to that game or give that game a bit more weight.

I like this idea best as I think it will offer the most interesting variety. Who ever suggested it is a genius.

I think we should keep the DDP discussion in the specific TR thread that will be up for the game, and maybe use this thread to pick next year's games...
That said, here's my general progress so far
end of stage 1 - almost 2mil
end of stage 2 - around 4-5 mil
end of stage 3 - around 8-9 mil
usually die in stage 3 or 4...haven't cracked 10 mil yet.
It'd be helpful to learn if that's drastically out of line with how people fare once they jump into it
About what I do.
If I can avoid dying on stage 3 (which is difficult, end of stage 3 is a panic-trip) then I can get over 10mil, as the end bonus is huge if you don't die. Otherwise, everything else is about same for me.
My high today is 5.8 mil, end of stage 3. Really struggling to recall the best route through the end of that 3rd stage and keep dying stocked on bombs, which is silly.

My only nomination for next year is Air Gallet. I'm not really good at it, but it would be nice for it to get some attention.

How was your trip down under?
We missed you all month?
