Connecting Consoles To PC Monitor

Hello everyone,

I was looking for a way to connect some consoles to my computer monitor.
The monitor is an 22in Dell LED monitor. The resolution is: 1920 by 1080 (1080p)
I have heard good things about this:

The website looks bad, but I have read that it is reliable.

Consoles I may try:
Wii using Component
Gamecube with Composite (Or Component if I can find the cables)
Xbox (Original)
PS2
Possibly some retro(ie SNES, Genesis, etc)

I have an Xbox 360 hooked up with HDMI.
I use the VGA port for my laptop.
I have 1 DVI port left. (I would buy an adapter)

Will this work with composite? Where would I plug in the cables?
Will retro consoles look bad like I've heard?
I don't want to spend much more than the price of the HD Box. ($55)

Please give me some suggestions! Thanks for any help in advance!

can't help you on that one, but I use a NextVision N6 which avrame suggested and I love it. I think I just convinced mjmjr25 to get one as well. It's really great on my 23" Acer LCD monitor. I've used it for Sega CD, Wii, PS2, PS3, Dreamcast, GameCube and Saturn.

The Wii supports VGA cables somehow, you can buy them on eBay or Amazon. You can also use that for emulation...or just your PC, heh.

I got mine from eBay... it was about a year ago I guess. I think it cost me like $75.

I need more than the Wii. I'd like to use other game consoles such as a PS2 or SNES. I am not just looking for a solution for one console.

For ps2
If the monitor accepts "sync on green" (probably not, huh?) you can take a component cable and it will output vga
Several games support 480p by default, alot of other games can be forced to 480p with gsm.
Loads of games can be forced to 16:9 too with hex edits and/or pnach files.

I don't think so unfortunately.

The PS2 Component cable can output RGB sync-on-green along with Y/Pb/Pr component. You can choose which in the system menu. It's interlaced though, but I'm pretty sure games with progressive scan will work provided your PS2 is set to RGB and your monitor accepts sync-on-green.

If you use the GSMode homebrew, there is a VGA option. You could use this to play nearly every game in VGA mode, but I don't know how you could use it if you can't see the screen in the first place.
