This is a really cool article that could have big ramifications for electronic music:

We all recognize a drum machine. It's precise... too precise. A human drummer is always just milliseconds behind or ahead of a metronome's mechanical pulse. Some drum machines have an option to randomly deviate their beats, ever so slightly, but they still don't sound human. This article suggests that is because those are random models when in fact there is a pattern in our subtle deviations from the perfect beat, and those patterns can be modeled with fractal geometry, then our perfect "imperfections" can be programmed into a sequencer to make the machines sound more human.

Re: Electronic Music Thread
Di.fm is the best online radio when it comes to electronic music, they have so many different channels for less popular genres and subgenres. It seems like they've removed some genres and added some new ones instead during the last few years.

That reminds me, the Ishkur Guide to Electronic music was really useful about 10-15 years ago. If you want to know more about electronic music when the rave scene was most thriving, it's still worth looking at:Menegrothx wrote:Di.fm is the best

Re: Electronic Music Thread
It still is helpful but it's quite outdated when it comes to certain genres like Hardstyle or Happy Hardcore (and it naturally lacks new genres like Dubstep).

Does stuff from Jarre and Vangelis count?
A few years ago I was surprised to learn that Jarre actually has some of his music in videogames. I first learnt about Captain Blood, but the well known Bomb Jack also features some, but only on the C64 version I think.

Absolutely. And speaking of which, I wish I could go back in time and experience Rendez-Vous Houston again (despite the problems).Ivo wrote:Does stuff from Jarre and Vangelis count?
