Kickstarter projects are, by their nature, a slightly risky investment. If I'm going to take a risk, I want the developer to take some risks too. My personal criteria for a Kickstarter project worth considering is that it takes chances and does something innovative. When I post in this thread, it is because I see the potential for something new.
So I begin with Sui Generis:
http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/147 ... ui-generis
What's exciting and new about Sui Generis is the realtime physics of the combat system. While it does make the fighters look a little sloppy and amateurish as they flail their weapons around, the reality of the physics looks to add elements of both randomness and skill to RPG battles that will make them far more exciting than traditionally combat systems. There are also a lot of cool realtime graphic effects explained in the video, but what really has me excited is the potential for a new way of fighting in an RPG.
Feel free to add other Kickstarter projects you think are noteworthy to this thread.

The shadows in Sui Generis are very impressive - but 2014 means no go for me.
Re: Kickstarter Projects Worth Considering
It is a far off delivery date, true. I'm also wondering if they actually know anything about level design. Right now it's an impressive physics engine, but creating that is a different skill set from making an enjoyable game. Nevertheless, I think battles will feel impactful in this engine, so I'm willing to gamble and wait.

This is an old college buddy of mine. He is a comic artist and has a really really good web comic. He wants to print his comics into a book and take them to conventions and what not. He has a really good set of prizes available. In fact, every donation from $5 up gets a prize. I really hope you guys would consider donating some funds to him.
Thanks Guys!!!!!!!

Barkley: Shut Up and Jam Gaiden 2!
(The Magical Realms of Tír na nÓg: Escape from Necron 7 - Revenge of Cuchulainn: The Official Game of the Movie - Chapter 2 of the Hoopz Barkley SaGa)
http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/tal ... up-and-jam
If you played the first game, you KNOW what I'm talkin' 'bout! The first game was hilarious, and beyond being a joke game, was a surprisingly good JRPG. I don't know if this game will be particularly innovative at all, but I don't care. The first game was so funny and they gave it to me for free. How can I not show my love for the sequel?

Re: Kickstarter Projects Worth Considering
Two projects that really deserve to make their funding goals:
LA Game Space
Help create a global resource that will foster interesting, exciting games for years to come.
The only thing that'd make this a better project was if it was the LV Game Space.
SPORTSFRIENDS
A compendium of four joyfully fun local multiplayer games for PlayStation 3 and home computers.
I have a dev build of JS Joust, and it's by far the most entertaining thing I've done with a Move controller. The others have been playable at various indie events and conferences, and are very much worth having. All are great competitive games.

STAR CITIZEN

Not sure if the kick starter is still going but Star citizen looks like a awesome game to support, created by the Chris roberts of wing commander and freelancer fame. His website is still taking donations/packages. Game looks awesome so far, like crysis all over again, even recommends 12GB of system ram. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0Gtf16CEMDM using a supped up version of cryengine 3.

Key word "recommends" though

I may end up doing Sports Friends - although they are a ways off with 10 days to go. Not looking too promising which is a shame.

Key word "recommends" thoughTheir FAQ says a dual core with 4GB is currently sufficient, it just scales up a lot. To me, that's actually pretty cool, given so few games these days do that without mods.
Its also has a release date of November 2014. 12gb machines may be common by then. Heck, Ive been tempted to build a 64 gb of ram machine myself - but thats cause ramdrives are like fezzes, cool.
