Why would it discourage you from buying VC in the future? If you've already downloaded the games, they're yours to keep on your console. They aren't taking the games away from people that already played it. It's just not available for purchase anymore on VC for those that haven't purchased it.k.vlaros wrote:I think Nintendo's communication about Virtual Console "abductions" in America and elsewhere has been disappointing and for the fanatics (myself included) there is a reasonable discouragement against buying more VC in the future. With that said I agree with those speculating that Nintendo probably pulled these from purchase to prep the new WiiU Virtual Console system. It's a guess of course, but the only good one I can think of. And if that's true, all that remains to be seen is if we will be asked to pay again for Wii U VC instead of descending in to "Wii Mode" and the horrendous channel interface.

^ They have also said it is still available for download for those who have purchased it.
Similar to steam and games like Prey.

Read what I wrote a little closer. It's not the removal (I've already bought and downloaded Sonic 2 and 3, multiple R Types and DKC 2) per se, it's about the lack of communication from Nintendo. It's weird and rude of them.BurningDoom wrote:Why would it discourage you from buying VC in the future? If you've already downloaded the games, they're yours to keep on your console. I think I regret reading the first four and a half pages of this thread. I still haven't decided, or maybe I'm still confused. Hah.
Anywho, I noticed this too. Considering I never owned the games, I was thinking about picking them up. Oh well.

Guess it's time you buy an SNES and track down those carts.
Re: Donkey Kong Country Trilogy Removed From Virtual Console
So many crap games on the VC and it's these three that get pulled. Donkey Kong Country is part of my personal SNES pantheon alongside Super Castlevania, Megaman X, and Super Metroid.
I wish it was because of an upcoming collection but I think those of you who are more pessimistic are probably right.

Maybe now Nintendo will acknowledge Metroid has a fanbase?
Re: Donkey Kong Country Trilogy Removed From Virtual Console
Yeah I remember when I thought the VC would be loaded with games the US never got and whatnot. Maybe Nintendo would have even done new official translations. I was so stoked for some potential.

Let's talk about that again in 15 years.BurningDoom wrote:Why would it discourage you from buying VC in the future? If you've already downloaded the games, they're yours to keep on your console. See how many of your VC games you can still download then...

Re: Donkey Kong Country Trilogy Removed From Virtual Console
The people on this forum shouldn't be upset about the removals. We are retro gamers. Surely we're playing the DKC trilogy on actual Super Nintendos. I do understand the convenience of it tho. I have my Wii and NES in two different rooms, on different floors. For convenience, I've purchased a few of my favorite NES games on the VC. But outside of that, I couldn't care less about virtual console. I couldn't care less that the DKC trilogy has been removed. If I'm gonna play a DKC game, I'm gonna play it on an actual SNES. VC should just be a convenience for us on Racketboy. And if the convenience of it is that big of a deal for you, then you should softmod your Wii so you can use emulators. It seems extremely easy to do, from what I've read. Then you wont have to worry about which games get removed from VC.

Umm hack your wii, problem solved? To me buying roms that have been on the internet for free for over a decade seems a bit silly
