I pretty much predicted that the Wii U would not have the same demand of the Ps3 or Wii at launch.. When those were revealed, you had a lot more advertising and info on what they were about.. The Wii U campaign was relatively quiet in comparison..

Oh did you now?

It has more to do that there is more stock this time than with the Wii launch. Plus it is coming off a successful system compared to the Gamecube sales. More people were ready for a new Nintendo system with the Wii then they are with the WiiU, people were still buying Wii systems just a little while ago.

The Wii U scratches wayyyy too easily. Evidently the softest, lightly moistened (with distilled water) microfiber cloth is the equivalent of Colgate on the Wii U exterior. Be careful, folks.

My wife and I picked up a pro unit on Friday night. We went into a Toysrus to see how badly it was destroyed. Then we noticed that old Skylanders were buy one get one, so we got Whirlwind and Chopchop (only missing six now), and as we were checking out the guy at the register was and old customer of mine when I worked retail and he noticed me. We chatted a bit, and I made a joke about if he had any Wiius. He said they got thirty in about forty minutes before and they have two Pros left. So we bought one.

He also said, Toysrus is doing a buy one get one on all games next weekend. So we are going to go back and get Mario and either TankTankTank or Sonic Karts.

Wow, they almost sold out of Deluxe models in 40 mins? I wonder how many were actually in that shipment...

The "I graduated from Wii U" jokes are already grating on my nerves.

I'm hearing a lot of mixed opinions on the U, mostly on the tech aspects. "It freezes randomly" and "Works like a charm" are things I hear a lot. Think I'll test drive one before purchase.

He said it was an even split between the models.

So whats this about the Wiiu now upscaling Wii games? Is it just upping the resolution, or does it have some AA/AF filters? Or should I just go to Dolphin to make my Wii games super pretty?

my Toy's R US had about 20 left in stock of the Deluxe Model (and a few Basics) when i checked two days ago, i almost bite on buying one but i decided it's better to wait for the price drop and have plenty of options for games... beside my Wii console right now is getting a lot of playing time from my backlog.

To quote my review to save time...

Wii games do actually play in 1080p, as do all the menus and anything else. This was a big surprise! I played Goldeneye for a bit and you can see a difference, both good and bad. Some things in game look much smoother from the upscale but mistakes or ugly filters stand out more. The cut scenes looked really gross though! This is because it is an upscale of resolution but no re-rendering is happening, no new filter or anything. This isn't like emulation where new rendering processes can be applied; it is just a resolution increase. So you’ll get good things and bad things from playing Wii games on WiiU, it probably all depends on the game.

Awesome, thanks Kdub. It means that I need to stick with my Wii and start dabbling in emulation again.
