Usually when a game is pulled it is either because of a planned venture to gain more money or because of copyright issues. While I highly doubt Microsoft would ever get their hands on them, seeing as how Donkey Kong is a Nintendo icon, I still wouldn't be surprised if a collection is coming. That new WiiU needs some cool exclusive collections in its eShop just like any other marketplace.

I edited that post before you posted this one. :)

Also, I'm too lazy to click on YT links.

Why do people think Nintendo needs to pull DKC from VC to put out a collection? They didn't have to pull any games when they released that Kirby compilation...

I don't think anyone really thinks that. If that were the one sign of a new collection then all the Mario and Kirby games would have been pulled before their respective collections were released. We're just throwing out ideas at this point.

Personally, I think it has something to do with a rights issue. Now what rights issue that is, is anyones guess, as it's already been pointed out that Microsoft owns Rare now, yet Nintendo undoubtedly owns the rights to all things DK. Maybe it has to do with a digital distribution license or something similar (I'm not a lawyer. How the hell would I know?)? We'll only know when Nintendo decides to spill the beans.

Like I said I could see them doing it for the purpose of getting them all updated some how for a cool WiiU eShop exclusive. But no not just for a disc based one. It isn't that crazy of a thought!

Distribution rights problems would be the more likely problem though, no question.

The best case scenario IMO would be that they release an HD remake of the trilogy on disc, don't care what console.

Anyone know why this has happened yet? This is terrible news unless the reasoning is that they are releasing HD remasters of them on Xbox Live...
Considering Nintendo now have a HD console on the market, you would think it far more likely for a WiiU HD release.

If they have the original models and animation data that was used to generate the sprites, they could just re-render them at a higher resolution. Which would be awesome.

But yeah, pulling them for a compilation, even an enhanced eshop release or something, doesn't make much sense to me. Neither does the idea that there's somehow a rights issue involved. Nintendo owns all the DKC stuff, right down to the characters and name.

I always wondered what that would be like... basically the difference with the Killer Instinct arcade versus the SNES version, except with DKC.

I'd hate to think all Donkey Kong Country rights have gone to Microsoft; basically that means a black void for all future things regarding Donkey Kong Country IMO.
