Help! JVC X'eye lacking DIN output

Hey all, I've got an X'Eye that I'm preparing to tear down and restore (doesn't load catridges at all, doesn't like most CDs), but I need to find out one little detail to determine if it's worth it..

The particular model I have is one of the early revisions without the Genesis/32X DIN output socket. The indentation where it would go is in the case, but it's just blank plastic.

Has anyone added a 32X DIN to a JVC X'Eye? Is it even possible, or were there different board revisions as well? Should I call this one a loss and keep an eye out for a newer X'Eye revision or SegaCD?

For the Wondermega I've seen people add an 8-pin DIN jack wired up to the CXA1145 encoder, but I don't think you'll need to do that with the X'Eye. Have you opened up your X'Eye yet? It might still have solder pads for the 9-pin mini-DIN so all you'd have to do is solder one in
