hacked psp battery and Magic Memory Stick questions

Post by alexis524 »

I have a PSP 2000 that I hacked a ways back and is running 5.30 CFW (i think) now my question is can I pop in regular ol' battery and fresh mem stick and have a stock PSP, essentially switching batteries and mem sticks when I want a modded/stock PSP?

Reason I ask is that recently I picked up Kingdom Hearts BBS and I cannot play this. There are TONS of threads on the internets about this game not running on CFW, and ways to get it to work. It looks as if I have to upgrade my OFW to then upgrade the CFW and had some trouble last week doing so, so as I was in the shower this morning, you know, cause that's where I really think about the important things in life, I got to wondering about this. Anyone have any insight?

No, you have to flash the firmware.

Just update your PSP to 6.60 pro. You'll be on the latest firmware AND it's CFW. Anything and everything will run at that point including the PSN. You actually update to the official 6.60 first and then implement the exploit. You can make it so it's just a file you run to unlock the PSP and it resets to normal after a hard reset, or you can fully install it so that it's always hacked. I have mine fully installed so I never have to fuss with it.

KH:BBS runs just fine on my psp1000 with 6.60 pro b10

For casual use, hacked batteries and Magic Memory Sticks went mostly obsolete long ago. There's an exploit that installs from official 6.60.

 battery, who does that anymore? its literally as easy as putting CFW 6.60 on your memory stick and running it, done.

Don't feel bad. I'm in the same boat. I still think a hacked battery is still useful for recovering from a bad flash. Hopefully that doesn't happen anymore.

welp, think i just bricked my psp  . I manually upgraded to 6.60 OFW and after it was installed, it powered off. I powered it back on, green light stayed lit for 3 seconds and it shuts itself off. Can't manage to get into recovery mode either.
Anyone have any ideas or do i have a silver paperweight on my hands?

*edit
it's not bricked afterall. I held the L shoulder button while rebooting and it took me to a separate menu where i was able to reinstall my 5.33 M33
and now i'm back at the point i was before upgrading ot 6.60 OFW.

i removed all iso's and such and i still get the same thing. After installing 6.60 OFW it will not reboot normally, still get the green light and then shuts off. I can only boot by holding in the Left shoulder button to get to some sort of recovery menu where I have the option to install 5.00 M33, 5.00 OFW, NAND operations, hardware info, test M33, shutdown or reboot.

Should i start back at installing 5.00 OFW and work up to current OFW?

*final edit
it ws the pandora'd battery that was the problem. I popped in a fresh stock battery and viola! upgraded to most recent CFW and KH:BBS UMD runs like boss. Thanks to all who helped!
