Seems like there some trouble with Nintendo's servers this evening, probably just from so much traffic. On the stream I'm watching they couldnt get the Wii Update to download for the transfer or Miiverse to connect either.

Ryan: If it still isn't working tomorrow I might call Nintendo. Many of the first run Wii consoles couldn't complete the first update and had to be returned to Nintendo. It happened to my best friend. Unfortunately, that update enabled SD card functionality. He lost all of his save data :( .

wait the Wii-U came out today? I'm being totally serious. I had no idea. Even weirder, we were at GameStop for like a half hour or longer today. Nobody working there mentioned it. Nobody came in asking for one (out of the say dozen or or more customers that came in while we were). Weird. Oh, and we got there right when they opened this morning as it happens!

Yup. Came out today. I'm still having trouble connecting.

The problem with the systems bricking seems to be from people turning it off during the update. If it cancels itself, it doesn't seem to be an issue.

Still, partially curious if it just doesn't like the (somewhat bad) wireless connection in my basement. May try to hunt down a USB-Ethernet adapter, since apparently those work.

Okay. So. I think the wireless chip in the WiiU leaves something to be desired.

I moved it into about 2-3 feet of my router, and it's now downloading away (slowly).

I will be buying the Wii USB-Ethernet adapter, seeing as it's compatible with that. I don't know why Nintendo doesn't have ethernet built in.

To all nintendo fans (used to be one),
Do you think the Wii-U release is on par with the release of the SNES,GC,N64, and Wii? Yeah, even the Wii was exciting with the motion controls and the ability to play retro games.

I am not getting any hupe here around my country or even online about the Wii-U . I think the big news of the Wii-U was "a tablet" but that was watered down by the fact that iPad has been on the market for 2 years now, so no one too excited about a touch screen(unlike motion controls back in late 2006) .

The graphics are ps3 or maybe a little better? Not sure what is with this system that makes you want to go out there and buy it. They could have just released an app for iPads and made it work with the Wii, or released a peripheral like the Wii weight thing or the device that measures your heart beat. Microsoft did it with Glass or Surface I forgot its name.

Wii-u Mario Bros? How much is this different from Mario Bros Wii? or New mario Bros. or 3DS?

I will not lie, if I had kids yes I will buy them a Wii or Wii-U , but as for 14yrs and older not sure where does this fit being better than a ps3 or 360, or the upcoming ps4 or 720. Also, lately I have seen that a PC is just as amazing or maybe better than consoles, so thats a 3rd better option.

Did they fix the online community to be on par with ps3 and 360? or is it still a complex process with a long string of numbers to add a friend ?

I was a bit excited for Zombie-U, it got 4.5/10 on gamespot

maybe in the future we will see innovative games using the tablet controller, but I am afraid that i will wait so long like I waited for the a decent game that utilizes the motion controls on the Wii...which I am afraid to say never came along.

Those are my thoughts on the Wii-U so far

Seriously?! I can't see any reason not too. Personally, I always hardwire my stuff. Just how I am.

I honestly dont think its the wifi causing the downloads to be slow, have you used the web browser yet? its unbelievably fast. Didn't someone mention that the first update was like over a gig or something like that? The updates for the games have been a little slow, but nothing worse than the ps3.

Well, the WiFi was certainly keeping me from connecting to Nintendo Network in the first place. The download went extremely fast after about 5 minutes.

And yeah, they've still done better than Sony. Why they can't make their updates easy and fast I have no clue.
