AVGN: The Movie
I'll be honest, I've talked quite a bit at how I'm not a big fan of the AVGN character -- or to be more precise, I'm not a big fan of how the character seems to be taken seriously. And while I've watched some of his videos in the past, it's always pretty hit or miss for me. But shockingly, the trailer for his movie actually has me pretty excited.
This shit looks hilarious.

Pft, he's just ripping off Happy Console Gamer the movie
But seriously though, in theory I think that a movie about the AVGN character going on an epic quest to find out the truth behind some piece of gaming history (like the whole ET thing) could work out really well. Or him trying to acquire some really rare game like Air Raid. I wasn't overly impressed by the trailer though, why add two useless characters? That chick and that guy have nothing to do with AVGN the web show.
I have a hunch that chick will be a really obnoxious character

That looked like it was about the right ratio of bad to fun to me.

Re: AVGN: The Movie
I've been following the AVGN movie since James first announced it. Thankfully, the trailer looks superb; especially those 80's splatter-esque scenes. Noise knows what I'm talking about.
Aside from Curse of Chucky, this is easily my most anticipated film of 2013 (I'm assuming it'll drop next year).

Can't tell if you're kidding or not but if you aren't the AVGN movie has been in production before the Happy Console Gamer movie.Menegrothx wrote:Pft, he's just ripping off Happy Console Gamer the movie

I'm pumped and the trailer looks great. Long time fan. I actually donated to this project when it was announced and received a signed mini-poster from him a few months later.
I always thought it was weird you disliked AVGN noiseredux, he loves retro games and horror movies. Seems like your type of guy. People taking the videos seriously isn't his fault, it's pretty clear he's screwing around in them.

Howard Scott Warshaw (ET's programmer) is gonna be in the movie.

Re: AVGN: The Movie
Watching this makes me feel proud at him.
Rolfe is a professional here. He worried about the sound. He worried about framing each shot and about how many lamps he needed for illumination. He understood pacing and he understands panning and moving the camera around. He has always been humble and willing to learn and I can see he has learnt how to do movies. While everything else seems to be in a permanent state of adolescence he looks into the future and says, hey, I could do things a little bit better next time.
I mean, I'll probably find the film boring. I got burned on the AVGN some time ago and you guys know I hate pretty much anything. But I respect this because it's honest. It isn't pandering, it's a real attempt by someone who cares.
And I can really get behind that.

Re: AVGN: The Movie
I really like the AVGN series and I'm glad James Rolfe is living his dream of making a feature film. Considering how watchable the longer episodes of AVGN are, I'm pretty confident that it's going to be a thoroughly entertaining movie.

Re: AVGN: The Movie
Funny you say that noise, my thoughts are just the opposite.
I love Rolfe's game reviews, but this trailer does nothing for me. I think I would honestly prefer a "movie" that was simply a 2-hour AVGN episode.
That said, I won't pass any judgement until I actually see the film (which I plan to do).
