I can't remember what review I was reading, but, it basically said it's an either love it or hate it game, and that most people wouldn't like it, but that the game isn't technically bad in any sense.

I have my copy and I'll have to see whether I enjoy it or not.

But, I can't connect to the Nintendo network to update. :x

They had 5 consoles outside of the preorders.
Did you ask someone at Kmart? I never could get Nintendo stuff on Sunday last year (coupon train) if certain people were working, they "claim" it comes out on Tuesday. Though there is one lady who will always go look in the back for me.

More than likely no one at Kmart knows its even suppose to release today.

This was one reason I went with Best Buy. I only have a Kmart and Walmart in town. Fiqured Kmart wouldn't even know what I was talking about and didn't want to have to go to Walmart in the middle of the night.
I thought about it after - part of me figured that with such a long line at Target and NO ONE at Kmart, folks must have called around. In hindsight, should have pressed it.

After I had got out of church this afternoon, I took a curious look at the nearby Target. They had one Basic Wii-U system left. Passing on it for now, as New Super Mario Bros. U is the only game that interests me, and that I also need to finish some Gamecube games.

It looks like Nintendo is setting itself up for a repeat performance of the Wii, which means shovelware central and inferior ports galore. It'll still be worth getting for first party games and the occasional one-off unique title, but this won't be a good place to play established third party franchises either now or in the near future...
I really don't disagree with you. If they can't get multi-platform titles to perform better than current systems they won't sell units for the demographic that enjoys Call of Duty, Assassin's Creed, and other triple A titles.

Why would you buy a Wii U when the only advantages are touch screen additions? Would these additions to gameplay even really enhance gameplay or would they just be gimmicks/hindrances?

And I don't believe we'll see a repeat performance of the Wii. The casual market is gone. There won't be another "OMG everyone get the new Nintendo" craze for another twenty years. I believe we'll have another Xbox/PS2/GameCube generation, but Nintendo will be a little more successful due to no one caring about buying a system for its DVD/multimedia function.

That is disappointing. I was hoping it would be the surprise killer app, looks like it's another Red Steel. Oh well, at least NSMBU is supposedly better than NSMBWii and NSMB2.

I'm thinking I'll probably pick up NSMBU. Batman is supposed to be good, but not worth buying if you've already played on the current-gen systems. Black Ops 2 and Scribblenauts I'm getting on PC. I might get Sonic & Sega All-Stars racing too if there's some good reviews up by the time I head out to pick up my U (decided to go Monday).

Reviews are not the end all, but I still maintain doubt in regards to ZombieU's overall quality. NSMBWU is delightful.

For the record. With the hour I've spent with it so far, I'd give it a solid 7. I can definitely see it getting a bit mundane if you play for several hours in succession... though maybe my thoughts are different, because being the complete dumbass I am, I went right ahead for the rouge-like difficulty mode. Once my character dies, I lose all my progress. No respawns.

But yeah, I can definitely see it not being everybody's cup of tea. I'm certainly enjoying it though. It's what you'd expect out of your typical launch game. Some neat ideas, a feeling of it being a bit rushed in execution, but in the end you have a really good time with it because it's something new and neat with some really good ideas.

Black Ops II is basically what I expected. It's dumb fun, which I've needed lately. It's a nice game to de-stress to. I partly bought it, however, to test out and see how well Nintendo's done with their online systems.

But Game Informer sucks. I rarely agree with their modern shooter loving outlook on gaming. And I hate their attitude. They come off as elitists and only their opinion counts. I've seen some nasty replies to their own subscribers in the letter column.
