Glad you guys mentioned the long update and install time. I've got a few people coming over to play so I'll do my best to get that out of the way before they arrive. Otherwise we might have just been sitting around waiting.

I was working at my Walmart when it launched. It was a small event; sadly, a much smaller deal than the Hunger Games DVD release. About 10-15 people started lining up at 11 PM, half of which I'd say were older than 40. All the Deluxe models sold, and we had three Basics left over (some people in line wanted a Deluxe, and chose not to purchase one at all than get the Basic). No one came to buy a U after midnight, so those three Basics were still sitting there when I left at 7:40 AM.

I've got mine pre-ordered at Best Buy, which sadly doesn't open until 11 today. I'm not sure if I'm going to stay out late and go get it this afternoon, or just wait until my weekend (Tuesday/Wednesday) to pick it up.

Do you honestly believe that they'd build a new system that can't compete with 6+ year old tech?
early reports aren't looking good:

slower memory - http://kotaku.com/5961547/report-wii-u- ... d-revealed

bad ports - http://kotaku.com/5961467/bad-port-or-b ... -u-visuals

I get that graphics aren't everything, but the Wii-U's long-term success will be tied, in part, to its hardware. It looks like Nintendo is setting itself up for a repeat performance of the Wii, which means shovelware central and inferior ports galore. It'll still be worth getting for first party games and the occasional one-off unique title, but this won't be a good place to play established third party franchises either now or in the near future...

i'm usually only into it for the 1st party titles anyways. had a mario game not been a launch title i'd would have prob skipped preordering one myself.

They didn't have anything at my K-Mart, I was one of three there when they opened. Zipped over to Target and it was barren - the clerk told me they let everyone in at 8am (it was 8:23 at this point) and the line wrapped around the building. They had 5 consoles outside of the preorders.

Did you ask someone at Kmart? I never could get Nintendo stuff on Sunday last year (coupon train) if certain people were working, they "claim" it comes out on Tuesday. Though there is one lady who will always go look in the back for me.

More than likely no one at Kmart knows its even suppose to release today.

This was one reason I went with Best Buy. I only have a Kmart and Walmart in town. Fiqured Kmart wouldn't even know what I was talking about and didn't want to have to go to Walmart in the middle of the night.

Gameinformer gave Zombiu a 5/10 and IGN gave it a 6.3/10. That's disappointing
