PSX and PS2 Legend of Legaia

Post by IMJ »

Anyone get into these games? The Lunar discussion reminded me of this RPG series. I love the Legaia games. Great story and lots of replay value with the spells and whatnot.
The PS2's Legaia 2 really enhanced the original with all of the nicknames and the recipes and whatnot. Awesome series with hours of RPG fun there.

I have the first Legalia title. It's alright.

The fighting system is what really seems to stand out.

Everything else is pretty generic.

Is this the one where the characters don't have faces? Or was that Granstream Saga?

I beat Legaia 1. Had a lot of fun with it. I never tried the sequel because I felt like it didn't need one, and reviews didn't like it at all. Plus, my RPG-obsessed friend even hated it. I loved Legaia mostly for it's nature theme, and appropriate music. I have a thing for games that go the tribal route, like Panzer Dragoon Saga.

I thought Legaia 2 was great. Actually it was superior to the first game in almost every way. It wasn't quite the evolution from the first game a la Parasite Eve I and II, but it was a logial extension from the first one with more substance to it. I liked that series.

If I had the time, I'd love to sit down and replay both Legaia games, Lunar games and Parasite Eve games (another franchise that I wish would make it to current gen).

I got about 3/4 of the way through the first one before I got bored with it. The combat system was cool, and I liked using the weird monster system, but the story didn't really interest me. I didn't even know they made a second one.

Yes, the second game really slipped under the radar.

Even now hardly anyone mentions it.

The first game got some publicity.

i thought the second one was an improvement too. the first time i played legaia 1 i thought it was awesome, but i tried to replay it a couple years later and i couldn't get into it. the battles took forever and i hated having to spirit all the damn time.
