I still think that the Ruthless agression era rapper Cena was OK. Before he was a "marine", before the modified the championship belt, before his feud with JBL and before being a baby face super hero, when he was just a silly "wigger" heel who made funny raps about his opponents. His old character and the freestyle raps are sadly too un-PC and risqué for the PG era.

People already hated Cena during ECW one night stand... who would've imagined that he's still the "number 1 wrestler" in 2012.

What about his return? Seeing the Rock in his current state, talking about "Twittertainment" is just.... :?

I don't even acknowledge the return. The Rock that left to be a movie star is long gone. Hes just Dwayne Johnson cashing a check at this point. Can't blame him for taking Vince's money.

On the subject of TNA, I have to say I do enjoy their product more than WWE right now. Not saying it's perfect, but there are a lot of little things that really differentiate them from WWE programming, One thing I give them credit for (and I've probably mentioned it before) is that you get two hours of ACTUAL WRESTLING when you watch TNA. It's not time wasted on talking about Tout/facebook/twitter, telling us about Cena's billionth time making a wish, talking about breast cancer, saluting the troops, talking about somebody's appearance on a talk show, telling us about the newest WWE game, telling us about the Be a Star campaign, telling us about their latest tour, etc, etc. I appreciate that the WWE does all these things, especially the charity stuff that is obviously a good thing, but do I need to be told about every single thing they do every five minutes in long, drawn out video packages that feel like commercials? In fact, I seriously dislike a company that spends sooooooo much time BRAGGING about all the charity they do rather than just doing for the sake of doing it. Everything they do for charity just feels like it's done for good PR. Even when they salute the troops it feels less about them supporting the troops and more about going, "Hey we're the WWE and we're awesome because we support our troops. Buy some of our merchandise!"

There is just so much non-wrestling related crap on a typical WWE program to have to sit through and you only really become aware of it when you watched a few TNA shows, which are devoid of all that crap. They really need to get away from feeling like the soulless money making machine that they are and back to feeling like something that cares about wrestling fans. TNA is living up to their, "we care about wrestling" slogan.

^ Good post and topical for me as I was *just* thinking after reading the latest RAW recap that I should really try to DVR Impact and find time to watch it. Thursdays are tough but I do like the 2-hour format and the fact that it starts at 8pm. I want to make a better effort there because the Hell in a Cell PPV left a ginormously bad taste in my mouth for a myriad of storytelling reasons. To compound that, recent RAWs have left plenty of interesting stories on the table while they go predictable or downright stupid.

I have no interest in purchasing CM Punk stealing a pin on Cena to retain this Sunday either.

Pretty much the WWE has been like a 2 month sport season to me for quite a while. I only give it my time from the Rumble to the RAW following Wrestlemania.

There's a reason WWE keeps playing the nostalgia card. Brett Hart's short-lived return as Raw general manager, the return of Kevin Nash and Booker T, The Rock's Wrestlemania run, Brock Lesnar and Paul Heyman's return, and the Attitude Era being the selling the point for WWE 13 video game. Because the WWE used to be a whole lot beter than it is now.

It's as if the WWE knows they're sucking and that's why they keep pulling from the past. But for some reason, they keep making the same predictable, childish, and boring decision week in and week out. It makes no sense to me.

And like Gamerforlife said, TNA is a much better product right now. Yet the ratings don't reflect that, because it's cool for wrestling fans to hate on TNA. Wake up and open your eyes wrestling fans! Just because WWE has been the traditional wrestling program doesn't mean you should be watching it. And just because you hear the WWE fans trashing on TNA, doesn't mean it sucks. Why would you listen to fans of a product that hasn't been good for like 3-4 years?

I chatted about WWE '13 and wrestling in general if anyone is interested:

We get to the wrestling stuff about 25 minutes in, but the first part is a good listen (imo at least) :)
