Re: PS2 Collecting - HIDDEN GEMS
A game I always liked was God Hand.
It's a decent 3D beat-em-up with some RPG style elements; plus it's got some very funny, weird, and goofy moments. Oh, I also liked Samurai Western. Another good game that I've hardly heard anyone talk much about.

It's always a good game to bust out when you want to humiliate your friends at parties...elmagicochrisg wrote:Britney's Dance Beat !?

Sometimes I hate that we both live in Seattle because I think you probably are the guy who's always getting the good deals just before I get to them.
Here's a few I hidden gems I like:
Black: well put together FPS for the PS2
Contra: Shattered Soldier: never understood why this wasn't massively popular
Darkwatch: Vampire cowboys! Yeehaw!
Eternal Poison (aka Poison Pink): a stylish tactical RPG that just came and went
Eyetoy: Antigrav: The only Eyetoy game worth having.
Frequency: Great Harmonix rhythm game lost to time
Genji: Dawn of the Samurai: It was a Sony game, so it should have done better. Awesome short title.
Gitaroo Man: Watch a trailer. If you're not blown away by the awesome in the first 15 seconds, then you just don't get it.
Grim Grimoire: RTS on the console done right
Gungrave: Stylish, fast, over the top.
Haunting Ground: Survival horror and dog training simulator
Mercenaries: Like GTA with army men
Mister Mosquito: The name says it all
Resident Evil: Dead Aim: If you have a Guncon2, you need this game
Rule of Rose: Psychologically disturbed
Shinobi: Shinobi is so ninja, nobody noticed this awesome (seriously hard) game.
TOCA Race Driver 3: A solid driving sim
Valkyrie Profile 2: Silmeria: Side-scrolling Nordic RPG? Yes please.
The Warriors: Best movie-turned-game ever.

I only have Shadow Hearts Covenant. I now want all of the other games too though! Great video!

Chain Dive - a JP exclusive title. It's sort of like Bionic Commando meets Shinobi. You freeze enemies with your double-bladed lightsaber of ice, then you attach your plasma chain and do this kind of yo-yo like thing and smash into them to kill 'em. Then you combo everything together and never hit the ground if you're really good. Here's a gameplay vid.
Oddly enough, a demo version was released in US in Official Playstation Magazine #79's demo disc.
