There must be a way to take screenshots of the games you play on a Game Boy or Nintendo DS. And it must surely work on original hardware because magazines didn't get the Game Boy Player or similar devices until some time later and in the case of the DS they don't even exist.
So, do you know of any?

Not sure about older handhelds, but I know the DS has some super expensive capturing unit that was mainly used by devs and certain high profile reviewers to get screenshots and footage.

I'm writing an article where I need DS screenshots. I'm using an emulator.

I think I'll stick with emulators too.

It's nice that the 3DS allows you take your own screenshots.
Journalists get given special equipment for screenshotting a game, although they often use images provided for them by the game companies too. For DS, there is no easy method of screenshotting without using emulators. For earlier Nintendo consoles, at least there is the Game Boy Player now.

Not pertaining to DS, but there is the gamecube GBA Player for this. And PSP has cables that run to your TV.
EDIT:I read the op too fast, you were asking pre GBA player my fault.

If you can see the future while remembering the past, you may just have control of the present.

I really hate Nintendo for still not simply giving us a cable to output to the TV. I'm really hoping now with the Wii U having dual screen gameplay that somehow Nintendo can make a 3DS player for Wii U.TEKTORO wrote:Not pertaining to DS, but there is the gamecube GBA Player for this. I am also mad at Sony for removing the feature to output video with the Vita.
Why do you do this game companies????
