New score (and new TV, back to the CRT)

ExedExes - 24,303,450,270 - Stage 3 - Mosquito 2 - 119259 EXP - Dreamcast



You may notice a smaller score underneath (7.9bil). I didn't make it to the bullet blankets of Stage 3, so I gave it another go, and I made it nearly through that time. See the difference? Compared to the MAME score, this is -

- about 3.5 times the score
- 15k less EXP

I find it easier to aim and release the captured bullets on the DC port. I utilized the Auto Piercing but not the Auto Shot.

I can feel myself getting *better* on each play through on either version. I was dodging and weaving through bullets like a true professional! Like Dimahoo was back in May, this is one bullet hell shmup that is in my wheelhouse. I will continue to play both.

Well the heck with Mosquito 1. This is more like it...
Even though didn't make it to stage 5, broke 1million exp. for the 1st time on this version.
Level 7 at 800k, but still a long ways from level 8 (1.6m).

I've yet to have my ideal potential run the likes of my best DC score; always a couple avoidable (dumb) mistakes somewhere, then eventually falls apart elsewhere. Damn stage 4 boss... I should take a break...

Chrish - can you talk about MAME button function - is it like CPS2, DC, or neither?

CPS2 has no turbo, no auto piercing cannon, --- Ther is only single shot, single piercing cannon and bullet capture, all of which are done by manner of how you manipulate 1 button.

DC has shot, auto shot, and auto piercing cannon.

MAME has....?

MAME has one button for all functions -- no auto shot or piercing just like on CPS2.

Well, mixing it up a bit, want to get on the DC scoreboard as well and put in a couple quick runs...nothing special but on the board:

Ok, so I kicked the difficutly setting up one level on my board so that I would be in line with everyone else. And--BAM!--I got to the Crab Boss! / Now all I have to do is beat him.

I took another run. And died right before the Crab Boss, again, in the same spot, as usual. BUT, this time, both my Score and Exp when up.

But, I did make it to the Crab Boss, again, on a later run; however, my score was not as high--16B~ish. This time around, I lasted a little bit longer. So, I'm thinking a few more matches with this guy and I'll be able to crush 'em and move on to Level 4.

^Better chains in that run apparently. Makes a significant difference (obviously).
Nice progress. Crab boss is no easy hurdle. Good luck with that!

Stage 4 boss is a huge pain...was a solid wall for me for awhile. I can beat it now, but never without dying at least once, usually twice, even on DC. That might be changing soon though. It's 2nd attack pattern is almost making sense... But for now, I need a life or 2 in reserve to pass it... Like so:

Hey! Congrats on breaking the 100B mark, C.

That's not an easy thing to do.

Yeah, I'm thinking there may be a scoring multipler hidden somewhere in the chains. I suspect that I'm picking up more points on runs with longer chains. On that 21B+ run, I had a 350+ pt chain on Lv. 1 and ended the round with 1000+ exp. I haven't been able to 1 chain Lv. 1 yet; but, I'm still working on it.
