Re: Are you the only one Retro Gaming?
Three of my buddies are very into retro gaming. The rest are either more into playing a little of the modern stuff, or not gaming at all.
So it's the four of us that usually get together and play anything from the NES right thru to the Dreamcast and most everything in between.
The one guy in particular is really heavy into anything Saturn related. He has a full-set of PAL titles and about almost done on the NTSC/US side of things as well.

Ugh, I hate this trend of people boasting about how much they love retro gaming because they play the most obvious Nintendo titles on NES&SNES&Gameboy but never touch any other old games on any other platform. PC Engine? Amiga 500? Neo Geo? Atari 800? Colecovision? C64? "I've never heard any one talking about those (=it's not the cool thing to do right now) so I'm not gonna bother", no matter how good or influental game. A true retro gamer should aim to have as large knowledge of retro gaming as possible and get acquainted with all the old systems (emulation and reading articles is free) atleast on some level.
Yeah that statement probably counts as a No true Scotsman but I don't care, there are way too much games and even gaming systems that are totally underrated while the popular games get all the praise and are massively overrated.

A lot of that just has to do with price and availability. Neo Geos and Amigas aren't exactly cheap or easy to find.

Yeah but messing around on emulators is free like I mentioned
Many of these "casual retro gamers" play on emulators anyways.

At my young age (middleschool) I thought it would be hard to find a person who plays retro games. One of my friends since third grade I found out plays the n64 and ps1 as much as a random teenager plays COD. (That means a lot.)

At that age, nostalgia has yet to strike so price is often the biggest motivator to retro game. I remember getting a $15 allowance when I was 11, and facing the choice between saving two allowances (one month's worth) to get a PS2 game, or buying an older PS1 or PC game every allowance day. Guess which one I chose? It was good for me, it taught me that old games are still fun. Had I been getting a larger allowance, I might have turned out a brogamer.

Re: Are you the only one Retro Gaming?
None of my friends care about retro games honestly. A few of them will still play PS2/Gamecube stuff, but I'm the only one that still actively plays stuff from 80s and 90s.
Re: Are you the only one Retro Gaming?
Im always looking for that Hidden Gem Retro game, and always wanting to play stuff like Super Mario Kart or Battletoads.
