Rom Splitting problems

Post by PigInTheMud »

Hey I am having trouble splitting the rom for Recca into a 256 PRG and 256 CHR. I can't seem to get any of the DOS command files to work at all so I was hoping that someone could split it for me and send it over?

This is somewhat of a longshot, but if you have Windows 7 x64, you could install and run XP Mode and run it from within there. I did that when I was dabbling with burning ROMs. I'd do it for you, but I've clean installed Windows 8 now, so I don't have XP Mode anymore.

So I was able to finally split the rom thanks to a program made by a guy named Lincoln at [url:http://nintendoage.com/forum/messagevie ... adid=63070]nintendoage.com[/url]

However now there seems to be a new problem with the rom burning. I purchased a GQ-4X from mcumall and I am using 27C020 Eprom chips. The game I want to play is Recca. Each chip is 256 kkb but the games CHR and PRG data are only 128 kb so I use the rom spitter to double them so that each chip will be filled. My donor cart is Batman which also has an MM3 chip on it so I figured that would be compatible. After soldering the 2 eproms to the pcb using Callan Brown's tutorial I popped the game in and nothing happened other than the occasional green letters and numbers that would pop up. I firgured I maybe I done something wrong with soldering the eproms on after checking all the wiring to be correct. So I took the CHR eprom off and put a new one on. The same thing happened. I took the PRG eprom off and soldered a new one on. Still nothing changed. So I am wondering if maybe I am doing something wrong with programming the eprom chips themselves. Does anyone know what could be going wrong?

Try reprogramming the EPROMs but without mirroring the ROMs. Just split the ROM and burn them, don't double them.
