GameCube problem

Post by trigga71 »

Not sure if this is the right forum, but I just got a used GC. its boots fine with NO game inthe system. I can go in settings and mess around in the boot menu. When I insert a game it reads it in the boot menu, but when I start the game it just hangs a a black screen, no sound. Any ideas?

Try checking if the game works on Nintendo Wii if you own one.

The game disc looks fine, a few light scratches. It works in another GC. I just got another game so i can try it. I don't have a wii anymore. Also just for your info I used the same cables and controller from the working GC.

Try a few games, see if a friend can loan you some. The disc reader is working somewhat since you can see the title pop up in the Gamecube menu screen. I suspect the tracking is just slightly off or a dirty eye, maybe other game discs will run fine.

Exactly what I would say. If you have multiple Gamecube games, do any of them work? Clean the lens.

@ mods: I've noticed a few tech help threads recently that aren't being posted in the tech help forum. This one and this one are two of the most recent that I've noticed. Perhaps they should all be moved to the tech help forum?

I cleaned the laser and it seems to work better, it'll boot the game from boot menu or just right from the disc. I still get a black screen shortly after booting. The system seems to lock up as the reset button won't work either it have to power it off. Could be a heat issue. I'll have to take it apart and have a deeper look
